The revolution of 1956 lasted only 13 days. Its ingenious symbol was “the flag with a Hole” – people hated the Communist hammer and sickle in the middle of the Hungarian flag, so they simply cut it out. This photo by Ferenc Berendi emanates the atmosphere of an autumn streetscape, a remarkably car-free one.
