Adena Springs North
include Mizzen Mast and his Canadian son Mast Track.
y the Silver Deputy son Badge of Silver, Silver Max is the most promising Deputy Minister-line stallion to retire to Ontario in recent years.
Silver Deputy over Blushing Groom has produced six stakes winners (four graded, one Grade 1), all of them out of mares by Rahy. The Storm Cat son Giant’s Causeway is out of a Rahy mare and his daughters and granddaughters are worth consideration. Daughters of Giant’s Causeway’s top Canadian son, Adena Spring North’s own Giant Gizmo, are especially attractive based on his success as a sire with the Vice Regent/Deputy Minister influence (nearly 50% of his stakes horses).
Silver Deputy male-line descendants have sired at least nine stakes winners with mares from the Forty Niner branch of the Mr. Prospector tree, including G1W Kodiak Kowboy (dam by Coronado’s Quest). End Sweep is the damsire of a stakes winner by Badge of Silver and a stakes winner by the Silver Deputy son Posse. Other sources of Forty Niner include Distorted Humor and his sons Sharp Humor, Any Given Saturday & Flower Alley.
Badge of Silver has sired a stakes winner out of a mare by the Storm Cat stallion Forest Wildcat, the damsire of at least two other stakes winners by Deputy Minister-line stallions. The Deputy Minister/ Storm Cat cross has produced over 35 stakes winners worldwide with Tale of the Cat the damsire of a trio of those. Daughters of the Canadian-based Storm Cat grandson Old Forester, a son of Forestry, can be considered for Silver Max as well.
Mares from the Fappiano offshoot should also go well with Silver Max. Silver Deputy-line stallions have sired at least 11 stakes winners, six graded and two Grade 1 winners out of Fappiano-line mares. Three of these are out of mares by the Fappiano grandson Unbridled’s Song.
Adena Springs’ two-time champion sire Milwaukee Brew has done exceptionally well with Vice Regent/Deputy Minister-influenced mares (15 stakes horses) so the reverse of this prolific cross is also worth trying.
The larger Deputy Minister/Caro cross has yielded over 20 stakes winners globally, including two SWs out of Indian Charlie daughters (one of those by Badge of Silver). This puts mares by Indian Charlie’s son Uncle Mo in the game for Silver Max. Cozzene and his sons Alphabet Soup and Running Stag are collectively the damsires of eight more of these stakes winners. Other sources of Cozzene
Badge of Silver has sired a Group 1 winner out of a mare by the Buckpasser grandson Silver Charm, one of at least three stakes winners bred Silver Deputy over Buckpasser. The Buckpasser son Spend a Buck is found in the pedigree of another Badge of Silver stakes winner, putting mares by the former Adena Springs Spend a Buck son Einstein squarely in play for Silver Max.

Mr. Prospector-line mares are especially promising for Silver Max as Silver Deputy (dam by Mr. Prospector), along with his sons and grandsons, have sired over 30 stakes winners out of such dams. Overall there are over 80 stakes winners that show Silver Deputy on the top side of the pedigree and Mr. Prospector on the bottom half.
