1826 Penn Street, Harrisburg 3 BEDROOM, 1.5 BATH
Wonderfully Remodeled Home in Midtown This home was lovingly remodeled by the owners with attention to quality and detail. Renovated within the standards prescribed by the Harrisburg Historic District, this property was intended to be the long time residence of the owners. No flip, scrimp, or cheap materials. Careers have taken them out of town and they reluctantly must part ways with their labor of love.
The aim was to provide a sanctuary that had all the proximity and amenities of city living, but was a calm getaway from the daily grind. This was achieved through the use of only natural materials. No linoleum, Formica, or plastics in this 1907 row house.
Practical Upgrades...Upscale Appearance The slate roof on the dormers not only looks great they are of the same quality as the 100 year old material they replace, providing for lasting protection from the elements. The stainless steel appliances are simply the best. The oven includes convection to speed cooking. The dishwasher is high efficiency and includes a food waste disposal and extra power zone.
No need to prewash (or even rinse). No kidding! The hardwood floors are a true 3/4 inch thick providing a large wear layer (not that these new floors need any improvement now). The spa tub not only provides soothing jetted water, but is deep and has a built in heater for long soaks. The floor warming system makes it easier to get out.
Ceiling fans in every room provide warm air circulation in the winter and cooling in the summer, reducing utility costs substantially. Porcelain tile in the bathroom and powder room will last a lifetime. The smoke detectors are hardwired with a battery backup in addition to being wired together for ultimate protection. The list goes on!

Exterior No expense was spared. Repointing, real slate on rebuilt dormers, many double pane windows, even a real copper roof on the entryway. A professionally painted exterior gives this home a unique and classic look that a 1907 row house in the city deserves. Black wrought iron grates on the basement windows provide security and a touch of old-world charm.
Living/Dining Area To accommodate the needs of today’s modern living, the open floor plan provides spaciousness while retaining the historic charm. Crown molding and hardwood floors along with the exposed brick chimney provide a warm and welcoming feel throughout the first level of this 3-story home.

Kitchen The kitchen is fully equipped with everything on the modern chef’s wish list including stainless steel appliances, granite counters, and slate floors. Bedrooms Three bedrooms (and one bonus room because of no closet) give you plenty of space for the family and a home office.

Outdoor Living When you want to get away, step out the back door. A patio developed from reclaimed brick provides an inviting surface to enjoy the low-maintenance perennial garden. Add a few annuals and the family and friends will be envious.
Where do you put the trash and recyclables? They go in the ‘bump out’ behind the gate so they don’t get in the way of your enjoyment. It’s the details!

This property would still be the owner’s residence if their careers hadn’t taken them away. Every day they enjoyed walks along the river, strolling to and from Downtown for dinner or a show, a trip to the Broad Street Market to make a home cooked meal in the completely renovated kitchen, and coffee in the morning on the back patio. The neighborhood is great: the neighbors are friendly and block parties are a blast. The playground across the street provides the liveliness of youth, but closes at 10pm so you can get some rest (and everyone knows it closes at 10pm). An unexpected bonus of the playground is that there is ample street parking...a definite plus in the city. Check it out and let the realtor or owners know what you think. We bet you’ll be impressed!
Accessibility to Amenities Walking Distance to Park, Shops, Restaurants, Market, and More This property is on a quiet street just 1 block from Riverfront Park where you can take a stroll, bike, or watch the fireworks on holidays and at the end of Senators baseball games. Work downtown? This property is 1 mile from the State Capitol building. An easy daily walk or bike...without the gas and parking costs! Work elsewhere? The reverse commute is a much overlooked benefit of living in the city and was very much enjoyed by the owners.
