INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE STATEMENT “The greenest building is the one that is already built. Architect Carl Elefante There is currently a changing tendency in the world, and especially in emerging countries, where reusing and modifying the interiors of an already existing building, is progressively becoming the most favorable option both from a sustainable and social perspective. Therefore, I have become increasingly more interested in understanding the way one, as an architect, can develop projects starting from the interior out, and in how one can efficiently reinvent a preexisting building through adaptive reuse. The understanding of interior architecture is the foundation for the critical thinking process needed for adapting existing buildings. The ability to think about comfort, energy saving, sustainability, and the use of natural light, from a point of view that is concerned primarily with the interior, is something that is strictly necessary to design and develop projects that are self-sufficient. The interior of a building can become something very special, as long as the architect or designer is interested not only in the details that may conform that interior, but also in the way the outer skin can interact with how those interior spaces work. It is through this interior architecture program, that I will be able to achieve the design of projects that are concerned with this natural connection between interiors and exteriors, and ultimately between people and architecture. In the following pages, you can grasp a clear idea of my rising sensitivity and awareness to interior space planning.
