SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING FOR FMCG Client: Hindustan Unilever Limited (Unilever Sustainable Living Plan)

Problem: To develop sustainable packaging for viscous fluids like shampoo, detergents, hand wash which can be reused, recycled or disposed off without damaging the environment. Role: Compile understanding of circular economy, explore strategies for achieving sustainability with the use of cosmetics, explore and sketch unique ways of dispensing viscous fluids, explore strategies to enable reuse of metal cans and explore manufacturer shapes for the same. Approach: Materials: Aluminum (Lightweight, recyclable, reusable, mouldable to any shape)

Shapes: Cans, Cylinders, Cubical, Concept: Replace pump dispenser with other ways, cans for permanent use with sachets.


PRODUCT AND SERVICE DESIGN FOR THE BASE OF THE PYRAMID Client: Government of Maharashtra (Upliftment of Rural Areas through Design) Problem: • Children going to schools in rural area have very limited resources like absence of desks and backpacks, hence to develop products to support the same. •F  armers have trouble in parts where rainfall is seasonal and water bodies are absent, they have to migrate to bigger cities in search of jobs and live on the streets due to lack of money, hence to design a service to aid their problems and help them find different opportunities in the village. Role: Communicate with children and explore the problems they face, Sketch out a desk cum backpack (lightweight, easy to carry and sturdy), Communicate with farmers in the Mukhada Village, Maharashtra.

WHAT IS

FSAE?

Formula SAE is a student design competition organized by SAE International (previously known as the Society of Automotive Engineers, SAE). The competition was started in 1980 by the SAE student branch at the University of Texas (Austin). The concept behind Formula SAE is that a fictional manufacturing company has contracted a student design team to develop a small Formula-style race car. The prototype race car is to be evaluated for its potential as a production item. The target marketing group for the race car is the non-professional weekend autocross racer. Each student team designs, builds and tests a prototype based on a series of rules, whose purpose is both ensuring on-track safety (the cars are driven by the students themselves) and promoting clever problem solving. In addition to these events, various sponsors of the competition provide awards for superior design accomplishments. At the beginning of the competition, the vehicle is checked for rule compliance during the Technical Inspection. Its braking ability, rollover stability and noise levels are checked before the vehicle is allowed to compete in the dynamic events (Skidpad, Autocross, Acceleration, and Endurance). Formula SAE encompasses all aspects of a business including research, design, manufacturing, testing, developing, marketing, management, and fund raising.

BHARAT 2017 THIRD YEAR OF UNDER-GRADUATION Location: Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore, India Dates: January 26 to 29, 2017

Role: To design and fabricate an Aerodynamics Package for the Formula One styled race car to increase acceleration and manouverability, To act as the Marketing Head of a team of 30 members to acquire sponsorships for the team by designing a sponsorship brochure for easy communication with sponsors.


2017 Location: Nashik, Maharashtra, India | Dates: December 23 to 25, 2017 Problem: Mistura Art Fest is organized every year by Shaurya NGO to provide a platform for the underprivileged to showcase their talents on a bigger stage in front of a large audience and with the aim of generating funds through sale of commercial stalls and food stalls to provide for donations and social work. Role: To plan a site layout communicating with architects, To design art structures and guide junior designers, art students, and architects to build their own structures.
