worlds: on land to the shrines of the Prophet Muhammad’s family; and in the inner world of a pilgrim as she questions her spiritual progress and readiness for  the visit.  


Teach One (2018). ​Against a backdrop of intersectional discrimination, a Philadelphia-based African-American Muslim family struggles to maintain its  Islamic identity across three generations. ​Work in progress.  


(2017).​ ​Amidst new policies and vitriol aimed at immigrants and refugees, chef Vimala Rejendran weighs the potential risks associated with hosting monthly  community meals for local residents and recent refugees in her small North  Carolina town.
