SING ME YOUR SWEET MELODY

THE MUSIC LYRIC NEVER FAILS TO SUPRISE. THERE TO ENTHRAL, ENTERTAIN AND EXCITE US. OFTEN ACTING AS AN EXCUSE FOR THE LYRICIST TO OPEN THEIR HEART TO ANYBODY WHO WILL LISTEN. HIDDEN CONTEXTS, OPINIONS AND ROMANTIC SLURS POURED OUT LINE AFTER LINE. PERSONALITY SEEPING THROUGH AS EACH SONG BEGINS TO TELL A STORY. THE LYRICS ARE THE KEY TO EACH PIECE, THE BACKBONE TO A WORK OF ART, SO SPECIAL AND PRECIOUS TO THEIR OWNER. POETRY CAN FLOW VERSE AFTER VERSE, OR SIT ALONE AS ONE SENTENCE, VISUALISE THE TALE AS IT IS SUNG TO YOU. ALL MEANINGS ARE OPEN TO INTERPRETATION, ALLOWING YOUR IMAGINATION TO TAKE YOU WHEVEVER YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO.

“I DON’T HAVE ANY HOBBIES BESIDES MAKING MUSIC, TAKING LOADS OF DRUGS AND READING.”

RYAN ADAMS

“wHEN WE STARTED OFF, WE WANTED THE GIRLS, THE COCAINE, THE FUR COATS. IT WASN’T LIKE IT WAS AN ACT; IT WAS ALMOST LIKE WORKING-CLASS PEOPLE WINNING THE POOLS. WE WENT BANANAS.”

“WORDS ARE BEAUTIFUL BUT

RESTRICTED. THEY’RE VERY MASCULINE, WITH A COMPACT FRAME. BUT VOICE IS OVER THE DARK, THE PLACE WHERE THERE’S NOTHING TO HANG ON: IT COMES FROM A PART OF YOURSELF THAT SIMPLY KNOWS, EXPRESSES ITSELF, AND IS.”

JEFF BUCKLEY

ROCK AND ROLL LIES

J o u r n a l i s m

A Fresh, Flawless, Fashionista. Nineteen year old, Emma Fleur Maclaren is the beautifully impending face, fiercely taking the modelling world by storm. Born in Worcester, England, now residing in London, the model is quickly making a name for herself amongst the top fashion circles in the world. Discovered when she showed up to a casting call with a little pink bow in her hair and being the only girl with no make-up, her doll-like blonde hair and blue eyes contrasted her slender 5”10 frame, which is only one reason why she is the newest breakthrough model. With just the kind of classic beauty clients are looking for right now Emma states that she is best known for her sharp cheekbones and attention grabbing eyes which came as no mystery when she captivated the audience during the MDX’s DNA “Walk” video whilst nestled amongst the other new bodies of beauty on the catwalk for New York fashion week. This video has not only catapulted her onto many designers wish list for their catwalk shows but scored her extra points by allowing her to grace magazine covers such as L’Officiel, Muse and French Magazine, placing her further up the career ladder. Emma first signed with Ford Models agency in Paris and Why Not Agency in Milan in 2007 as she considers Europe as her strongest client recognition base and prefers to work, travel and socialise overseas, even though she is signed to top London agency Models 1. “I enjoy the excitement of travelling but mostly the privilege of meeting and working with so many lovely people.” Gaining appraisal for opening the Nicole Fahri catwalk show in London in September 2008, Emma then went on to

charm November 2008 editorial fashion shoots with Moschino Cheap and Chic and a Bottega Veneta campaign just after gliding into the spotlight of New York agency DNA Model Management. Her biggest achievement to date was being chosen to close the Bottega Veneta in Milan, whilst also walking for fashion houses Givenchy. Dior. Jil Sander. Marc Jacobs and Lanvin. Emma impressed photographer Corrine Day as she was shot by the infamous woman (who gave Kate Moss that lease of life in the modelling world when the model was only aged 14) and signed a fragrance deal for her biggest contract yet, with the giant brand Cacharel in July 2008. Her pretty form stomped down the catwalk for her first full fashion week as part of not only one globally known name but again many of the best. Donna Karan. Sonia Rykiel. ThreeAsFour. Diane Von Furstenberg. Michael Kors and John Galliano. Taking her career as seriously as ever, shows, castings and fittings are her livelihood, her chance to show people the gift she has got. Emma doesn’t see herself as much of a party girl as she rarely has any spare time and would rather spend those precious moments with her family. As a newcomer to the modelling world Emma counts model Zuzana Gregorova (walked recently for D&G, Valentino, Versace and Ralph Lauren in their S/S09 collection) as one of her best friends. “She is the girl every girl wishes they could be.”
