2nd Winner Speech_005 The Importance of Pre-travel Consultation for a Great Traveling Experience Ayudhea Tannika AMSA-Ukrida Most people love traveling. They go traveling to get out of their routine daily activities, to enjoy new experiences, to see new things, to eat new food. Beside the sole purpose of enjoyment, some people do traveling to study abroad, to do business trip, to complete religion quest, even to seek for cure of a disease. But, sometimes there are several health conditions what we don’t want to happen during traveling. Therefore, pre-travel consultation is a good thing to do with a health professional. Pretravel consultation is a part of travel medicine that seeks to prevent illnesses and injuries that can be occurred when travelers going abroad. There are several factors to consider in pre-travel consultation. Those are: preexisting chronic conditions, behavioral risk factors, non-biologic health threats, and individual traveler’s risk tolerance. A pregnant traveler should have a pre-travel consultation to get an evaluation for highrisk conditions. And for the other specific group of travelers, like infants, children, and elderly people, assistance from a parents or guardians is the most important thing to prevent sickness during traveling. Pre-travel consultation has a very big benefit for every traveler: advices, precautions, immunizations, and vaccinations. By getting a pre-travel consultation, we can enjoy our trip peacefully. So, we should get ourselves pre-travel consultation to stay healthy during vacation.
