I have the discipline to work within structures, and the creativity to develop new ideas within these existing systems. I value communication as one of the most important tools for development. With my personality and these set of skills, I can contribute the most to AMS, whose passions I also deeply share, by running for the position of SecGen. I envision an AMS with a more involved ExeCom that readily addresses its body’s concerns, a more involved member pool that takes on tasks as passionate student leaders, and a better relationship between all AMS members grounded on clear communication.

I am skilled in using Adobe Photoshop and PageMaker, as well as basic Microsoft Office tools. My open-‐minded nature enables me to deal well and relate with different types of people. I value commitment very much, which is why I am always focused and dedicated when it comes to getting things done. I believe that, among the skills that I have to offer, always the most valuable is my will to work hard, which has never failed to bring me closer to achieving my goals.

MAIN POINT 1: Improve implementation of existing internal (documentation) systems I want to stress, especially to core members and project heads, that AMS has documentations from past projects. We have documentations; we have to use them. From my experience, core groups don’t do their documentations until after project execution. I want to improve the system so that the core teams find the task helpful to project planning and not just as an extra pile of work. I would like to provide guides for core teams that will give them structures to work around, but will still allow their ideas to grow. I also want to instill discipline among members by strict observance of deadlines. Moreover, the documentation system can serve as an indirect communication medium between core teams of years past and current core members. MAIN POINT 2: Develop efficient work distribution & communication strategies I want to promote the use of individual and group consultations as a tool to strengthen bonds and serve as a catalyst for open communication among the members of the ExeCom, project core teams, and the member pool, aside from the weekly scheduled meetings that are otherwise dedicated to project planning or evaluation. For better communication and more involvement between the ExeCom and core groups, I want to divide the project presentation into two parts: presentation of planning details and program details, one month and one week from project execution, respectively. I plan on developing more group-‐specific communication strategies aside from these. MAIN POINT 3: Maintain the AMS website The current means of communication and information dissemination among the org members is Facebook, which is, although essential, ineffective and very limiting at times. A medium more developed to address the needs of the org is the AMS website, which I plan to maintain together with the DPool deputies and members. We would also need department efforts for the KYAM, Math Mania, and PoTW (current projects) which I plan to feature in the website, among other things (e.g. homework helper guides and subject forums). Issues of Infinity may also be featured. Also, the AMS Matrix system accessible to members via the website would be a crucial tool to help solve problems on member inactivity. MAIN POINT 4: Create and maintain an official alumni database In an effort to address the need for more sources of funds, as well as to connect with past members of AMS who could have more to offer, I want to collaborate with the other top four officers and MaFia in creating an alumni database. I also want to create a system of contacting these alumni and guides for members who will do the tasks. The MaFia deputy and its members will be in charge of contacting alumni and collecting donations. I, together with the DPool deputies may be in charge of letters and invitations to be sent out. Other activities, such as alumni-‐members gatherings, may be a collective ExeCom effort. MAIN POINT 5: Create more avenues for member formation Since the MemRel department governs a lot of projects (Acads and MathApp have less main projects), I propose that the ExeCom should head one of these, while project heads of all other projects could act as core members, together with other volunteers. The project in mind would be Family, since it is executed year-‐long and could bring AMS closer as a true family if planned and executed well. I want to change it and make it a more frequent event so that it can allow all members to fully participate and grow with each other. I want to put our best efforts on the project that needs it the most. The website and alumni-‐members gatherings would also be other avenues that strengthen the members’ interests and relationships with each other.
