GUIDANCE ANNOUNCEMENTS Key College Planning Dates December: Some early admission decisions become available, so check with any schools to which you submitted an application. The ACT® test is administered on December 12. Complete and mail applications with January 1 deadlines. Prepare for the FAFSA, because it will be available January 1. January 2010: The FAFSA becomes available January 1 — file as soon as possible. Registration deadline for the February ACT test date is January 5, 2010.

Each award is made in the spring semester for the next academic year; applications are due by February 1st. For the 20102011 academic year the different scholarships available solely for Physics major include:
The Ralph and Inda Shenk Scholarship is awarded to a student who intends to teach physics at any level. The recipient must have a t least a 2.75 GPA and enroll in at least 12 hours each semester. Preference is given to a female from Kansas and financial situation is considered.
The Jean & Henry Unruh Scholarship is awarded to any physics student enrolled in the physics department. Consideration is given to high school performance and college potential. Financial situation is not considered for the award.
The Douglas Knight Scholarship is presented to a junior or senior physics student enrolled full time with a t least a 3.0 GPA without regard to financial need.
The Nelson S. Ladd Physics Scholarship is awarded to either a full time or part time physics student without regard for financial need.
Boeing Science Scholarship for Physics Majors (up to 4 are available) are awarded to full time physics majors interested in the aerospace industry. COLLEGE INFORMATION Pittsburg State University Honors College is now accepting applications for the fall 2010 semester. Participation in the Honors College is limited to a select group of 36 academic scholars who receive Presidential, University, or Academic Achievement Scholarships. Criteria for application and potential selection for entering freshman include the following: 28 or higher composite ACT score; a minimum of 3.5 college preparatory high school grade point average. The deadline for submitting an application for the Pittsburg State University Honor College is February 1, 2010. The Washburn University Leadership Institute strived to produce the ideal Washburn Leadership Experience so you can develop you own perspective on leadership. High school seniors can apply to receive up to $8,000 in total scholarship awards by filling out the application at www.washburn.edu/leadership and submitting it by January 8, 2010.
