developed by athlete, boxer & trainer extraordinaire Vanessa Chakour and transformational counselor & rock star mind coach K. “Neycha” Herford, C.H.C., is a four-week self-discovery and personal empowerment program. The Amp’d intensive, based on the MAP™ (Mental & Physical) model, combines boxing, physical training, life coaching and personal growth modules. The program is designed to help individuals: • move past limiting fears,

overcome self-defeating behaviors, and expand the realm of success in their everyday lives.


BACKGROUND Mediocrity is the default position that many operate from. Because we are highly opposed to any type of discomfort, we generally avoid change whenever possible. In doing so, we stunt our growth and limit our potential. Fear becomes the conductor of our lives, and we become hostage to self-limiting thoughts and selfdefeating behaviors. Rather than expand, we retract. Are you living up to your potential? Everyone has unhealthy addictions or poor habits they wish they could overcome such as smoking, overeating, laziness, procrastination or lack of assertiveness. To overcome these addictions or habits, we need to have will power and selfdiscipline. Rather than exercise self-discipline, we create dis-ease. Are you living up to your potential? Will power is the ability to control unhealthy impulses. It is the inner power that overcomes emotional and mental resistance to taking action. Self-discipline is the companion to will power. It provides the stamina to persevere through difficulties and reject immediate satisfaction for something better. Rather than honor our word, we make ourselves liars. Combined, will power and self-discipline help us to direct our impulses rather than be controlled by them. Their power is strengthened in us every time we resist unhealthy thoughts, feelings, actions and reactions. When we resist, the stored energy inside us functions like a battery, and it becomes available at the time of need. Rather than be a slave to every fleeting emotion, we exercise control over our thoughts. Are you living up to your potential? An effective method for developing and improving will power and self-discipline is to perform activities that move you outside your comfort zone. By doing so, you overcome your subconscious resistance and more importantly train your mind to obey you. When we press through what is otherwise thought to be too difficult or impossible, we employ self-mastery. Rather than settle for mediocrity, we strive for excellence – over and over again. ABOUT VANESSA

Vanessa Chakour has been a trainer at top Health Clubs in NYC, including Crunch, Chelsea Piers and World Gym. She began boxing in 1998 and was discovered by World—Renowned trainer, Robert Miles at Gleason’s gym in Brooklyn. His proficiency as a trainer helped secure “World Championships” for the late “Sensational Davey Moore,” former World Boxing Association Junior Middleweight Champion, Iran Barkley, former three time World Champion, and Kenny Mitchell among others. A true teacher and mentor, Mr. Miles imparted his wisdom regarding the science of the sport and inspired Vanessa to embark on a professional career in 2002 with Phoenix Sports Management, Inc., whose goal was to legitimize women’s boxing based on the fighter’s technique, expert training and skill. Vanessa's rigorous training became a powerful conduit for personal transformation, affecting all other aspects of her life. In 2004 she became a USA boxing certified coach to train both men and women for recreation and competition. The self-awareness, dedication, resiliency and skills she has learned through boxing, she now brings to others through training, coaching, public speaking, visual art and her non-profit organization, ART, ACTION, AWARENESS. She is currently working with young women at GEMS using both boxing and art as a vehicle for healing and strength as well as running training camps at Church St Boxing Gym. Currently, she is training with Mustafa Marconi, head coach of Jamiva Boxing. An influential voice for Human Rights, Vanessa is an Athlete Ambassador with Right To Play, an organization that uses sports for development and peace around the world. She has spoken at the United Nations and was recently the Keynote speaker for Sport and Society's Human Rights Leadership Forum at Northeastern University.
