How we can help Amos Trust can support you in your fundraising activity in lots of different ways.

 Leaflets We want to help you spread the word about Amos Trust, explain what we do and why people might like to sponsor you or attend your fundraising event. Whether you‟re running a marathon, organising a coffee morning or a collection in a church service, make sure you have some of our leaflets to hand. We have individual leaflets about each our partners round the world as well as a general leaflet summarising our work and fliers about the Street Child World Cup and Just Peace for Palestine. Just let us know what you need by contacting info@amostrust.org or calling 020 7588 2638. Tell us how many copies you need and we will get them posted out to you straight away.

 Photos & Presentations We can send you a ready-made slideshow of photos of our work around the world (to run on either PowerPoint or Windows Media Player). Alternatively we can send you the link to photos of our projects on Flickr, which you can put into your own presentation. Just email info@amostrust.org and we will send you what you need.

 Amos speaker at your event We would also be pleased to send a speaker along to your event to do a plug about Amos‟ work and explain where the money is going. If you are doing a sponsored event like a marathon, why not invite a speaker along as a preliminary event at your home, church or workplace to encourage people to sponsor you.

 Gift Aid cards By claiming Gift Aid on donations we can ensure your fundraising efforts raise even more for Amos‟ partners and projects around the world. For every pound donated by a UK taxpayer, we can claim 25 pence gift aid. All you need to do is ensure that you hand out our pre-printed gift aid cards for people to fill in when they make a donation at your event. Without the giver‟s details, we can‟t claim the gift aid, so please make sure you send us the completed cards to us after your event. Let us know how many cards you need and we will pop them in the post, contact info@amostrust.org or call 020 7588 2638. Alternatively you can print off a simple gift aid form to hand out (see page 7 of this pack) and/or ensure your donors tick the gift aid column on your sponsor form; donors supporting you using Justgiving will automatically be asked to gift aid their donations.

 Sponsor form If you are doing a sponsored fundraising event, we have a sponsor form on page 6 of this pack with our logo and charity number. The sponsor form has a gift aid confirmation column for UK tax payers to tick. Make sure you get your sponsors to supply their full address and tick this box if they are a tax payer, so we can claim the Gift Aid on their sponsorship.

 Online giving with JustGiving We recommend that you set up a JustGiving page for your fundraising at `, so people can give online by card. JustGiving is very user friendly and is a very cost efficient way for a small charity like us to process donations and reclaim gift aid. Your sponsors will not be contacted by us unless they ask us to send them more information. There are instructions on how to set up a JustGiving page on page 4 of this pack.

 T-shirts If you‟re doing something sporty like running a marathon or doing a bike ride, then we can send you an Amos t-shirt to wear for training and photo opportunities, contact info@amostrust.org with details of your event and your size and we will send you a shirt to wear.

 Updates, photos and tweets Finally, if you keep us up-to-date with preparations for your event, we will cover your activity with a story on our website, Facebook page and twitter, encouraging people to sponsor you and go along to support you. After your event, it would be great if you were able to email us a photo from your event and a few words telling us how it went, so we can do a follow-up story.

 Legal stuff Whatever you are doing to raise funds for Amos Trust, please remember that you are personally responsible for ensuring your event is run safely. You need to think about organising any necessary public event licences and insurance for your event, as well as ensuring you meet the health and safety requirements of your venue.

Ways people can give  Cash donations Our preferred way to process cash donations is for you to pay the cash into your own account and then send us one cheque payable to „Amos Trust’ for the total amount of the cash you have raised. (Please do not send us cash in the post!) Please write on the reverse your name and “fundraising cash donations”. If you are fundraising for a specific project, e.g. Umthombo Street Children, then please write the project name on the back of the cheque as well. We can claim gift aid on cash donations too, so if possible get people to fill in a gift aid card when they give you a cash donation. Please send us the completed cards with your cheque, together with a note saying how much each person gave of your cash total.

 Donations by cheque Cheques should be made payable to „Amos Trust’. If possible get people to fill in a gift aid card with their details to go with their cheque, so if they are a tax payer we can claim the gift aid on their donation. Please write „fundraiser‟ and your name on the back of cheque, so we know to process the donation as part of your fundraising total. Please attach the gift aid card to the cheque with a paper clip and send them to the address below after your event.

 Setting up online giving with JustGiving We recommend that you set up a JustGiving page for your fundraising, so people can give online by card. Justgiving.com is very user friendly and is a very cost efficient way for a small charity like us to process donations and reclaim gift aid – an extra 25% on all donations from the government. Your sponsors will not be contacted by us unless they ask us to send them more information. The money you raise will be automatically transferred to Amos‟ account. Here‟s a step-by-step guide of how to set up your JustGiving page. Step 1: Log on to www.justgiving.com Step 2: Click on the “Get Started” button

5 Step 3: If you haven‟t used JustGiving before you will now need to set up your account with them, if you have had a fundraising page before, this is where you log in to your JustGiving account. Step 4: Type “Amos Trust” in the search box on the page that now appears Step 5: Select Amos Trust by clicking on the words Amos Trust underlined in blue from the search results Step 6: Choose what kind of event you are participating in. Step 7: Choose a suitable name for your page e.g. “Johnamosscotlandcycle” and check if that name is available (you may have to try a few if you want a name someone has already claimed) Step 8: Go through the rest of the options on this page – at the bottom, confirm that the charity is not contributing to the cost of your fundraising. Step 9: Now you get to create your page and edit it by adding your own words/photos etc. using the “edit your page” facility to make it appealing to your supporters. JustGiving will ask you to enter a short description of what you‟ll be doing under the title „Your Story‟. As well as explaining what you‟ll be doing and what it means to you, you might want to include a short bit about Amos, here‟s a sample of what you could enter: ‘Amos Trust is a charity which promotes justice and hope for forgotten communities. Amos works with a network of community projects from around the world to raise awareness of, and provide support to responses that address the root causes of injustice and poverty.’

 Setting up text giving with JustGiving JustGiving also provide a free way for people to make donations via text message. You get your own special text code for your event and again, it‟s really simple to set up, just follow these steps after you‟ve set up your JustGiving page. 1. 2.

3.

When you have finished editing your JustGiving page, click on „back to control panel‟ in the top right hand corner of your page. Underneath where your target amount is displayed, there is a box called „Share your page‟. The last option in this box is „Just textgiving by Vodafone, Ask your friends for text donations‟. Click on this. First of all, select the amount of money you want each text to be worth from the drop down menu on the left of the page you find yourself taken to. You can choose to change the code which people will send by text to donate but this isn‟t necessary. Your text donations are now set up!
