our younger pupils. Sixth Form pupils can apply for Peer Mentor roles and those who are successful are given a great amount of responsibility in helping the younger year groups in the school community. As a Peer Mentor, the Year 12 and 13 pupils are there to listen, encourage, reassure and facilitate inclusion. The Peer Mentoring Programme operates alongside our normal support system of Form Tutor and Head of Key Stage but at Amity we are aware that there are times when a pupil feels she could do with someone who understands him/ her; who has ‘been there, done that’. Peer Mentoring is another form of support, but one that may be seen as more accessible to younger pupils. Year 12 and 13 Peer Mentors can support certain transition points e.g. transition into Secondary School or from Key Stage 3 to Keys Stage 4 to ensure the transition to the Senior School is as smooth

as possible. There is a comprehensive initial training programme, which all Peer Mentors must successfully complete before undertaking any mentoring. A certificate will be issued to successful Mentors. After initial training, workshop sessions will be held to cover any specific areas identified by the Peer Mentors or Team Leaders. Model United Nations The school runs a successful MUN and debating club. Although supported by staff, this programme is largely operated by an elected Sixth Form Secretary General and MUN directors. The club members will represent Amity international School at a number of local MUN and debating competitions and these pupils are responsible for coaching the younger pupils to develop skills and attributes required to be successful.
