Perfect Patterns Thu 21 June, Thu 26 July, Thu 23 August & Thu 13 September, 1pm-3pm The pattern makers could produce a wooden pattern for any metal object needed by the workshops or the quarry - from wagon wheels to steam engine parts. There are thousands in our collection! Take a peek behind the scenes with our curator to find out how we’re looking after this amazing collection.
2012 is the National Slate Museum’s 40th birthday and since 1972 we’ve welcomed nearly three million visitors though our doors. Find out what’s happened here over the past 40 years in this brand new exhibition which also highlights the variety and relevance of our industrial museums in Wales.

Summer of Slate Mon 23 July-Fri 31 August 12pm-4pm Decorate a slate, get creative with the museum’s ART CART, try your hand at making perfect patterns in the foundry sandpit or get all dressed up in the quarrymen’s houses.

Tue 30 & Wed 31 October 1pm-3pm Graffiti was always popular in Quarry Culture with quarrymen making carvings and pictures on the slate surrounding them. Creat your own modern version by designing your own graffiti name plaque on a piece of slate. Charge
