A Night with the Stars
Find out more about the Celts who lived in Caerleon before the Romans in our family workshop. Dress like a Celt and have your face or arm painted. Make some Celtic jewellery to wear, train as a warrior and follow our secret Druid trail. £2 per child.
Christmas All Over the World Sat 8 December, 11am-4pm How is Christmas celebrated around the world? Join our magical Christmas mayhem and discover traditions in countries such as Poland or Mexico through games and activities. With craft stalls, mulled wine and Animal Zone petting zoo.
Hoops and Hearts Workshop Sat 9 February, 2pm-4pm Learn how to make gorgeous willow hoops and hearts – you could make them as presents, although you may not be able to bear to give them away! Workshops provided by ‘Out to learn willow’. £15 per person.
Tue 13 November, 6pm (doors open at 6pm) David Thomas of Usk Astronomical Society talks about the ancient myths and legends that still influence how we see the skies today. Tickets: £3.50.
Latin Lovers Tue 5 February, 6pm (doors open at 6pm)
The Roman Army Mon 11-Fri 15 February, 11am-4pm Meet some soldiers and learn about life in the Roman army. Have a go at marching and sword practice, archery and firing a replica mini onegar, a Roman catapult. £2 per child.
The Romans and the Greeks produced some of history’s most enduring and evocative prose and poetry. Liz Mayor will look at the language of Latin itself, and some of the writers whose works have given us a glimpse into a past world. Tickets: £3.50
