The Woolly Tale

Village Trail

See her work displayed and follow the Family Trail linked to the work.

A fun and educational trail for families helping to discover the process from Fleece to Fabric.

A self guided walk around the village of Dre-fach Felindre highlighting historical and interesting facts about the woollen industry in the locality.

Ffarwel Gymru Working Abroad Until Mon 31 December, 10am-5pm People who left Wales and the industrial causes for their migration.

Colleges Competition Exhibition Mon 5 November-Thu 31 January, 10am-5pm This year our theme is 'Migration' and offers students studying design, fashion and textile courses the opportunity to respond either by designing a product or through creating a piece of art. We have worked in partnership with Jen Jones of The Welsh Quilt Centre; Lampeter to develop a joint competition for students inspired by both collections.

Carmarthen Spinners and Ceredigion Spinners Weavers and Dyers Fortnightly Wednesdays, 10.30am-3pm See the groups demonstrating their skills and join in! Please bring your own materials and call the Museum to check dates.

Jigso Children’s Centre – Satellite Centre Wed 21 November & Wed 19 December, 11am-2.30pm Fun activities for children and parents including music, art craft, messy play sessions and story-telling.

Families Hands On

Our annual craft fair showcasing the work of local craft workers. A range of stalls including country crafts, textile crafts, wood work, soaps, candles and more. An excellent opportunity to purchase unique gifts for Christmas and support local craftspeople.

Christmas Cookery Evening with S4C Chef Gareth Richards Fri 7 December, 7pm Need new ideas for recipes for Christmas? Gareth will be providing a cookery demonstration full of festive ideas with tasters, as well as showing how to create simple festive floral displays for the home at Christmas. Tickets £5. Carol Singing with Santa Tue 18 December, 6.30pm Join in with items from Ysgol Penboyr and expect a visit from Santa! Enjoy mince pies, teas and coffee as we celebrate Christmas. Booking essential.

Make & Mend: Festive Tea Light Glasses Sat 15 December, 1.30pm Jazz up plain old glasses into beautiful candles holders using etching spray and found/vintage accessories. Materials supplied. £5. Booking essential.

Make and Mend: Cards and Envelopes Sat 16 February, 1.30pm Create special occasion cards and envelopes from our array of retro wallpaper, books, newspapers and adorn them with rubber stamping, junk jewellery and buttons. Materials supplied. £5. Booking essential.

Cafe and Shop Museum Shop, open 10am-5pm Come and browse our broad range of blankets, cushions and throws produced by the woollen mills of Wakes, together with gifts for all ages.

Caffi y Gorlan, open 10am-4.30pm Come and enjoy a taste of homemade cooking using local produce. All dietary needs can be catered for. Light lunches and home baked cakes served daily.
