Elementary Fiesta Catracha Elementary Spanish, and Social Studies Department organized Fiesta Catracha with interpretations of our national heroes, national games, dances of the ‘‘Bomba’’, and ‘‘Sopa de Caracol’’ songs, and more.

IB Art Installation

IB art students learned about art installation (The term installation art is C

used to describe large-scale, mixed-media constructions, often designed for a specific place or for a temporary period of time), what it represent, artists in this field, and how they can apply installation art in our campus, based on their IB general topic.

Natalia Retes – The intentions of the work is to present the diversity of cultures around the world (Located HS Building near the Office)

Maggie Yu Hang – The intentions of this work is to present the world crisis.

(Located in the first floor of the HS Building)

Estefania Matamoros – The artwork is based on the relation we have with outer space (Located by the Cafeteria)

Roberta Inestroza – The intentions of this work is to represent the different emotions of the people through their face expressions. (Located in the first floor of the HS Building)

Camila Girón – The installation is based on fashion showing that each person dresses according to their personality.

3rd Grade Talk Stress Management Our 3rd grade parents received a talk about Stress Management lead by Mrs. Cristiana Baide (ES Counselor). ‘‘In times of stress, the best thing we can do for each other is to listen with our ears and our hearts and to be assured that our questions are as important as our answers.’’ – Fred Rogers

AST at TriAssociation Annual Educators Conference Our teachers presented at the TriAssociation Annual Educators Conference and Mrs. Natalie Arguello presented Hands on Houses sharing how we build heldMs. in Calyanne SantoCrouch Domingo, Dominican Republic on September 28 and 29th. community through camaraderie, competition and character education in our 12 Houses at AST. This Conference is for schools in Central America, Colombia, Mexico and the Caribbean which are members of AASCA, ASOMEX and ACCAS.

Mrs. Liliana Jenkins (Superintendent), Ms. Calyanne Crouch (Music Teacher and Houses Coordinator), Mrs. Anahi Paredes (Curriculum Director), Mr. Daniel Dobbe (IB Director), Mrs. Jill Dobbe (ES Assistant Principal), and Mrs. Natalie ArgĂźello (2nd Grade Teacher and Houses Coordinator).

Ms. Calyanne Crouch and Mrs. Natalie ArgĂźello presented Hands on Houses sharing how we build community through camaraderie, competition and character education in our 12 Houses at AST.

Mr. Daniel Dobbe presented on Facilitating Student Self Advocacy and shared the success of this initiative at our school.

STEAM Consultants American School went full STEAM ahead last week, as we had the honor of receiving consultant Dr. Dereck Rhoads, and his colleague Justin Robinson to talk and train our staff on STEAM best practices.

It was an amazing week, as we go FULL STEAM AHEAD!

Pink Day October is the month dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness, and is AST we support this cause. Last Friday, our students and staff dressed PINK to create awareness.

This activity was sponsored by the club Relevo por la vida.

Alumni Corner Pedro Espinosa Atala (’18) Congratulations to our Alumnus Pedro Espinosa Atala for making history winning the first ever gold medal for Honduras in the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Pedro participated in the equestrian competition where he won two Olympic medals. One Gold medal, and one Bronze medal. We are so proud of him and CONGRATULATIONS. #ALUMNI
