English Language Learning Teaching

IIP Webchat and Discussion on Youth & Violence at the American Corner In collaboration with the American Corner (AC), post hosted a viewing party of eleven, many of them alumni, on June 5, 2013. Afterward, the participants engaged in active dialogue to discuss youth volunteerism. A representative of an NGO that works with youth talked to the participants and encouraged them to be active volunteers. This activity addresses the goals of raising awareness of peacekeeping efforts and engaging youth in dialogue to empower them to become agents of positive change in their communities.

ECA Webinar Hosted at the American Corner The American Corner (AC) hosted a viewing party of the online webinar "Easy Collaborative Learning Activities for a Student-Centered Classroom� for English language teachers on June 12, 2013. A group of 9 teachers from different language institutions attended and received instructions on collaborative learning when teaching English. This activity supports English teaching in Nicaragua by offering training opportunities to the academic community.

LOCAL TEACHER’S DAY

The American Corner Gives Training To Local Librarians On June 5, the American Corner (AC) Coordinator provided training on “How to Blog” to the Nicaraguan Librarian Association. Blogging is an excellent tool to promote your library. 25 Librarians, all women, participated in the training. This activity improved the skill set of a key segment of future and current leaders in Nicaraguan society. By empowering librarians to maximize social media tools, they will be partners to shape the narrative in the future. 5
