Fictions filmmaking and cinema school category: Master thesis place: AlmerĂ­a, Spain year: 2018-2019

Nature as an artifice [and vice versa]

Apparently, thinking on fiction would lead us to think about the city, but what if we use the landscape as a medium for fictions? Is it possible to raise a movie studio in an abandoned movie setting? Since the 50’s, the history of Almeria has been tied to the culture of cinema, this is due to the contrast of its landscapes, appropriate climate and long sunny days. The filmmaking rise was mainly concentrated in shooting outdoors without having a place for creation. For that reason, the project propose the recovery of landscape values in Almeria through a filmmaking .The studio and cinema school are placed in an old movie setting. The project comes at the recontextualization of the landscape, recovering its historical condition.That leads to the old railway segment reuse. The architecture is understood as a structure support, expansion capacity and developed on one side of thesegment trace. A regular piece emerges in an irregular low mountain shot. The indoor spaces rise from the ground creating the shade structure and a new topography. This topography is related to the mountain irregular elevation and allows access to the upper level

The structure is a place for filmmaking pre-production and post-production with a school of cinema. 7

Cubierta retráctil Sistema retráctil con membrana de fibra de vidio recubierta de PTFE. El mecanismo se compone de un carril que se desarrolla a lo largo de la cercha y que se ancla al montante superior. Este carril dispone de trolleys al que se fija la membrana. Se acciona a partir de un cable cuyo funcionamiento se controla con motor.

Módulos tipo A Espacios que requieren de un mayor control de la luz artificial y la luz natural no es necesaria (espacio de ensayo, efectos de iluminación, camerinos, caja de sonido, maquillaje). Es por ello que estos espacios se iluminan a través de ventanas de menor tamaño en determinados puntos. El cerramiento se resuleve con una serie de perfiles extruídos que crean la curva.Existe un travesaño exterior y otro interior, de esta manera se consigue que el tirante-soporte no quede visto. La subestructura de perfiles se dispone cada 1,2m con travesaños cada 0,8m. Estos módulos se compone de una piel externa de placas de aluminio,ejecutadas mediante remaches entre piezas.Interiormente,se reviste de placas de madera.

Módulo tipo A

Cubierta retráctil

(mirar ficha MÓDULO A) Espacio de ensayo, efectos de iluminación, camerinos, caja de sonido o maquillaje. El cerramiento se resuleve con una serie de perfiles extruídos que crean la curva. El acceso a los módulos se realiza a través de un fuelle de conexión.

Estructura

La estructura de pórticos se compone de dos piezas principales, cercha vertical y cercha horizontal. El sistema de construcción desarrolla en primer lugar la construcción de los elementos verticales sobre los que se eleva la cercha horizontal soldada en obra. La cercha horizontal salva una luz de 28m entre pórticos y se disponen cada 7,7m apoyadas en los pórticos. Los perfiles empleados son tubos ØD200.8, ØD155.6, ØD100.8

La planta sótano que conforma el almacén y parking y se desarrolla bajo la cubierta vegetal transitable se estructura con un sistema de soportes de H.A y forjado bidireccional.

La cubierta de cada módulo independiente se resuelve con una subestructura de IPE 220 e IPE 180, sobre ella la chapa gracada. El sistema de evacuación de aguas de cada módulo es independiente mediante sistema GEBERIT con sumidero y conducto impermeabilizado que discurre sobre la chapa.

La estructura del módulo cuelga de una pieza de acero horizontal de sección curva. Esta pieza se suelda al pórtico vertical amodo de voladizo. El cerramiento se realiza con vidrio anclado a esta subestructura del módulo.

Espacio cerrado que recorre todo los módulos entre sí a modo de pasillo. La estructura se compone de una serie de perfiles UPN extruído que forma la curva.Se dipone cada 0,9m salvo aquellos puntos de conexión con el fuelle. Cada UPN se ata con una subestructura de perfiles L.

Módulo de trabajo Son los módulos dispuetos entre pórtico y pórtico y espacios residuales que se ubican en los extremos. Se trata de espacios complementarios al uso principal, pudiendo ser usados como zona de trabajo independiente para alumnos o zonas de trabajo coworking. Estos módulos también conforman los baños. El Cerramiento también se realiza con una fachada de aluminio remachada, en este caso se disponen ventanas retranqueadas a altura de 1m.

Visibility residence for the USA ambassador category:design semester VIII place: Moscow, Russia year: 2017

The expansion of the Spaso House takes the new residence of the United States ambassador in Moscow. Is conceveid as a single and continuos building that occupies the entire surroundings of the former residence. This new residence is perceived as a building that looks to the past and history of the Villa, adopting new concepts of visibility and permeability towards the original building. On the one hand, the building is designed as a result of understanding Spaso House as a specific place that can be seen as limit,it means the former House will become a new historical landmark in Moscow. This new condition explains why the new volume is an U shape which completes a rectangle in combination with the Villa. On the other hand, the building will reveal the past in certain points, this mechanism is achieved through permeability and visibility. A geometrical pattern of vertical elements that define different degrees both form the outside as from inside. This scale recreates different visibilities form its separation as well as its different sections. Thus, the eleva tions open and close gradually. The main container, a volume of glass is surrounded by this permeability layer and its conceveid as a continous space in the interior, where the living areas are. Between the former Villa, the past and the present, takes places the garden , a space of transition in which permeability is sought through two contrary ideas, a forest and visible hills. . Functionall the project is understood as a space Functionally, that is gone across continuosly and in which the functions are divided into diffferent wings. The best orientation is assigned for the ambassador’s residence. The reception area is placed closest to the villa,looking towards it. 21

Progetto Flaminio recycling industrial architecture category: design studio VI place: Rome, Italy year: 2015

The following project proposes the intervention in three useless industrial buildings located at the end of the Via Flaminia in Rome. The program proposes the reuse of two units in which the regeneration of the teritorry will be carried out through the use of land for the development of public urban orchards. The aim is to create a public space of colective and social work open to the urban space. This can be by opening the current space of the units through the design of a market .This market will include the future farming production. Conversion of this industrial area includes new surface for apartment buildings and also cultural equipment as a library. The new library is located at the junction of Via Guido Reni and Via Flaminia. The surface of the building occupies most of the residual area of the plot. The aim of the building is to create a volume mostly transparent opened up to the public space. The volume occupies the space around a courtyard. The development of the program takes place around this courtyard that can be used as space for temporary exhibitions. The rest of the program is divided into three levels. The first and second level includes the main functions of reading, audio and video, computer, storage and administration. Finally, two platforms on the top lean over the central courtyard. The study group rooms are located in this level. 29

102 suns extension of Maestro Padilla Auditorium category: competition place: AlmerĂ­a, Spain year: 2019

The extension of the Maestro Padilla Auditorium is conceived as a continuity of the former building: both from materiality and massive and also from the assimilation of the current building structural axes. On the one hand, there is a formal continuity since the new building receives on its modulation the structural axes from the former Auditorium, defining its traces et the skylights sizes. On the other hand, the volume dialogues with the former building by using bricks. In this case, through a new double wall configuration which materialize outwardly by a brick bond patchwork with different patterns. The roof has different heights according to the former auditorium. The roof is made up of 102 skylights – 102 suns- Each skylight is a square based pyramid. In addition, each skylight has different inclinations and different upper openings where the light enters. The roof and light atmosphere in the interior take as a reference the Arab Baths architecture characteristic of this region and the using skylights tradition in Spanish modern architecture. In contact with the ground, the pyramidal geometry its repeated by producing triangular glazed windows. The modulation of the building that appears in the roof due to the skylights, allows the possibility of building the new construction through different phases and allowing future extensions. A new tree-covered square is created between the former building et the extension, a new public space for the city with views towards the sea. Auditorium and extension are connected by a volume of the same material and continuing the same skylights. 35
