Hampshire Pride: LGBT History Month 2018 Wednesday 14 February / 6pm / £3.50 Straight Young British Men: Kissing, Cuddling and Loving each other With Professor Eric Anderson, Professor of Masculinities, Sexualities and Sport at the University of Winchester This talk, led by Basingstoke resident, Professor Anderson, will examine how declining homophobia has lead to a total redevelopment of what it means to be masculine for college and university students today. Using research data he highlights that, in addition to homophobia being socially unacceptable, young straight men are kissing, cuddling and loving each other. He shows that old binaries of 'straight and gay' no longer work for males of this generation and that once taboo sexual practices are no longer stigmatized.
Dr Eric Anderson degrees in health, psychology and sociology. His often controversial research is regularly featured in international television, print and digital media. To book a place, you can order online from https://www.hants.gov.uk/shop/home.php , or visit Basingstoke Discovery Centre in Festival Place, or call 01256 478670. Advance booking is strongly recommended.
