Core gas experience
AMEC has been providing a full range of services to the oil and gas industry for many decades.
AMEC selects and installs both gas and electric driven compressors and their associated infrastructure. In doing so we provide a bespoke offering to each of our customers, taking full account of capital and life cycle costs, together with performance and environmental considerations to provide the optimum solution to deliver their objectives.
Transmission and Distribution AMEC has been designing and installing high pressure pipelines in the UK and US for some 30 years and has made a significant contribution to the UK transmission network. We are working with a number of geographical utility companies to replace and upgrade their existing low pressure distribution networks for the 21st Century.
Gas Storage We have taken our extensive experience in gas compression and transmission and transferred the skills to these development of natural gas underground storage facilities. AMEC has engineered and constructed three onshore gas storage facilities in the UK which are currently operating, and is actively involved in the development of a further two projects in the UK and Europe. Offshore we are currently helping customers evaluate the technical feasibility and costs of offshore underground storage in the East Irish Sea.
We have long-term customer relationships with a portfolio of leading national and international oil and gas operating companies, affording us a unique and valuable combination of experience and global perspective. We have unparalleled experience of delivering large and complex projects for our customers – safely, on time and to budget. We are a leading provider of asset support services to the oil and gas industry. Our engineers service more than 200 facilities each day in almost a dozen of the key oil and gas industry locations worldwide, including the Caspian Sea and South-east Asia as well as the UK North Sea. Over 35 years of experience in the challenging North Sea means we are the experts in areas such as operational readiness, hook-up and commissioning, and maintenance integration.
as the UK becomes a net importer of gas, we have transferred those skills to the development of a number of underground gas storage facilities. As deregulated energy markets mature across Europe, the structure of the energy market is changing to reflect the choices each nation is making about securing future supplies in the most cost effective and sustainable way. For example, the UK has not only become a net importer of gas but is also increasingly installing renewable power generation assets on its national grid. This is happening against a background of increasing regulatory pressure, environmental legislation and heightened public scrutiny. Similarly, European energy network operators face a considerable challenge - to install new, replace and refurbish ageing delivery infrastructure while simultaneously reconfiguring their networks to meet these evolving national circumstances.
In the UK we offer a complete range of services across all sectors of the gas delivery network from feasibility study, project execution to asset support. For more than 50 years we have served the national transmission and distribution networks ensuring security of supply to homes and businesses across the UK on behalf of our customers. More recently,
