REPORT: ACG Clinical Research Grants Supporting Clinical Research: Fulfilling the Core Mission of the ACG Institute ESTABLISHED IN 1994, THE ACG INSTITUTE HAS PROVIDED FUNDING TOTALING MORE THAN $24 MILLION to 676 investigators, for research relating to clinical gastrointestinal practice. The College is proud of the achievements of its funded investigators and plans to invest more fully in their leadership and success. The ACG Institute’s continued investment in career development awards and funding for GI fellows-in-training will foster clinical innovations in gastroenterology and hepatology that will improve patient care and strengthen the capabilities of practitioners. Funding for 2021 Clinical Research For 2021, the ACG Institute for Clinical Research and Education approved $1,926,744 in support of outstanding clinical research in gastroenterology. The ACG Institute will support two Junior Faculty Development Awards at an increased yearly rate of $150,000 per year, and an overall level of $900,000. The ACG Institute is proud of the investment in the career development of promising clinical researchers, and the excellent scientific research planned by the Junior Faculty Development Awardees. From among numerous submissions for the 2021 Clinical Research Awards, the Research Committee recommended funding for 16 investigators for a total of $625,494, of which one award supports the new Established Investigator Bridge Funding Award at $300,000, one award supports the new ACG/ASGE Epidemiologic Research Award in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at a level of $50,000, five are clinical research awards at the $50,000 level, two are pilot awards at the $15,000 level, three are for resident research awards at the $10,000 level, and two are for medical student research awards for a summer project at the $5,000 level.
