MILLCREEK CITY

LEADERSHIP Millcreek Mayor

JEFF SILVESTRINI Millcreek’s great neighborhoods and the Parley’s Crossing Trail are my favorite biking routes. Millcreek Canyon is my favorite place to ski tour and hike. These places and Venture Out! are important parts of our city’s heritage. Come join the party this summer—for the food, the entertainment, and the fantastic movie nights!

District 1 City Council Representative

SILVIA CATTEN I am an avid hiker and live for all things outdoors. Utah is incredible, and Millcreek is no exception. Whether it’s walking to a park or hiking beautiful Millcreek Canyon, this city has a lot to offer for staying active. I look forward to Venture Out! every summer for all that it brings to residents.

District 2 City Council Representative

DWIGHT MARCHANT We’re looking forward to another fun summer in Millcreek with our neighbors as we participate in Venture Out events throughout our city. We appreciate all the volunteer efforts which make our city a great place to live, work and play. We hope you will all consider the opportunity to VENTURE OUT to our parks each weekend and feel the spirit of Millcreek.

District 3 City Council Representative

CHERI JACKSON With world class hiking, biking, and camping within minutes of home, Millcreek is in a class by itself. My family loves the outdoors, and that love flourishes living in such a wonderful place!

District 4 City Council Representative

BEV UIPI Recreation is everywhere in Utah, and we are so fortunate to have hiking, walking, biking, and pet-friendly recreation options right here in our backyard, Millcreek. I’m excited to travel around the city for Venture Out! this summer. Come join us! #RecreateMillcreek

Communications and Programs

RITA LUND I have lived in Millcreek for most of my life. I love the people and this wonderful place and am fortunate to be able to work with residents to answer questions and solve problems. I love to VENTURE OUT and enjoy the wonderful hiking trails so close to home. Take time to stop by the Millcreek booth at the Venture Out! events and say “hi.”

To enhance the good work in our community, the Millcreek Promise Initiative, in collaboration with United Way of Salt Lake and many additional partners yet to join, Millcreek will mobilize to help all youth and families to be successful in the areas of:

1. EDUCATION

Strengthening and supporting our local schools to maximize academic success and educational outcomes—envisioning all Millcreek youth as college graduates.

2. HEALTH AND SAFETY

Working together to create a safer, healthier community through resident engagement and support of local law enforcement and fitness and nutrition programs and health provider partnerships.

8

"It is our hope this program will assist us in building community, bridging divides, creating opportunity, and helping each other. Through Millcreek Promise we will ensure our children-all of themhave the opportunity to read on grade level, and graduate with the prospect of college or trade school. We will all benefit from a community richer in shared and diverse tradition, a community that is safer, more connected and more prosperous. We invite you as community members, parents, school representatives, nonprofit and faith community representatives to join our effort."

– Mayor Jeff Silvestrini

3. ECONOMIC WELLBEING

Enhancing the economic wellbeing of Millcreek residents who are unemployed or underemployed or that have had life experiences that have denied them from access to education or vocational training that would result in their being able to better provide for themselves and their families.

2005 2019

A BIG

THANK YOU

Since 2005 Venture Out! has provided a time and place for people to get outside in their community and enjoy and appreciate the amazing recreational opportunities in our backyard and throughout the state. This 10-week festival series travels around various Millcreek communities on Friday nights from June–August. Each free event is created around a theme that includes live music, recreational activities, children’s arts & crafts, a movie under-the-stars, and local food trucks and concessions. We appreciate the support of Millcreek City and the community councils that support this grand venture— Canyon Rim, East Millcreek, Millcreek, and Mt. Olympus. A big thanks to the many other private and public sponsors who make this happen. Please take note of their names on page 4 and support them. And thanks to the 2019 Venture Out! Team: Aimee McConkie, Natalie Clawson, Rita Lund, Selena Kontuly, Janie Matheson, Karen Akerlow, Nicole Handy, and Jay Griffith.
