This building is a proposal for a new facility for the company Seven Cycles. They design and build bicycles for individuals who are seriously about biking. They individualize each bike for it’s rider, so the building they work in should be just as unique. Bikes are, put simply, a series of structural tubes. The building created does the same thing but on a much larger level. All of the walls, interior and exterior are concrete tubes. The north and south facing walls are the solid edges of the tubes, blocking all light and views. The east and west facing walls are the open sides of the tubes screening light and views. These decisions were to fully commit to the rules that a tube inherently provides. All of the structure is hidden inside the solid walls, concrete and load bearing. The site is located on a prominent corner in the neighborhood. This corner is not orthogonal, so rather than make a funny shaped building, there are two floors and each of them is an orthogonal rectangle in relation to one of the roads. Therefore the floors twist.
