Ya Ne Dah Ah Day Camp to begin July 5th, 2011

Dear Tribal Citizens and Community Members, This year we (CVTC Education Department) are excited to announce we will be implementing a new summer-school activities program. We strongly encourage Tribal Citizens and our community, along with their children to attend the daytime cultural activities we will be providing. Between July 5th and August 11th, Daniel Harrison and Jesse Boger will be teaching: How to Make Birch Bark Baskets, Construct a Traditional Fish Trap, Build a Steam-bath, Fish for Trout at Ravine and Bonnie Lakes, Identify Edible and Medicinal Plants and Berries, as well as Ahtna language lessons. All activities are free of charge and further activities and dates may be determined. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Activities will take place every Monday through Thursday, from 10am-3pm and you can sign up for one or all of the classes offered. Participants need to be at the YNDA School (Mile 55.5 Glenn Hwy) no later than 10am for a project briefing before we proceed with the activity. Most activities require travel and some will take place near the water. There will also be some hiking. For these reasons, a signed general liability waver will be required for all participants under the age of 18. Parents of children 13 and older will need to pick them up from the YNDA School by 3pm each day if they do not attend. Space is limited so early registration is recommended. Please see the attached flyer for further details about this exciting opportunity. Register now by contacting Daniel Harrison or Jesse Boger at (907) 745-0722 daniel@chickaloon.org jesseb@chickaloon.org
