Housing Centre for Homeless Youth

Crisis Phase Jimmy has just entered the housing center and he is faced with uncertainty in his new environment.

Solidarity Cave Jimmy and other new residents begin to identify themselves within each other in their safe and inclusive space.

Transitional Phase Mindy used to be like Jimmy, but after receiving support from her peers and staff, she transitions to join the general public,.... she’s maybe a bit hesitant as she stops first to observe under a small ficus tree.

Community Tree Mindy and other residents of the housing center begin to share communal activities with the public under one bigger tree.

RU Architecture & Innovation Centre

Ryerson University is proposing a new building for the architectural science department. As the existing building continues to host the program, but it is perceived to be incapable of adapting to the evolving parameters of architecture and architectural education. The proposed new building is envisioned to be a center for architecture and innovation where architecture design, building technologies, and sustainable practices are introduced to students, professionals and the general public.

Group Project: OCAD Satellite Campus

OCAD Satellite Campus is proposed to host a variety of art programs ranging from 2D media art work to 3D industrial design programs. The concept is to create an art hub for both students and the public. I and my teammate Aisha Irfan were keen on the central stair idea that acted as the communal and connecting piece between the art students and the public. My part of the project was focused on the technical design development of the building’s structure and envelope.

Biologist’s Cabin

The cabin is situated in a bio-conservation area that was once an industrial site. The transformation of the site happened through Evergreen. Evergreen’s mission is to green cities and introduce city dwellers to sustainable practices through sustainable recreational spaces. The biologist cabin is an addition to the green campus, and it provides a temporary home to researchers studying the biodiversity of the site. The concept of the cabin is reimagining the idea of a log cabin where a tree’s log is emphasized and the construction is strategised to reduce the amount of labor and machinery needed for constructing a conventional log cabin.

Condo Unit Renovation: Maitland Place

Carlo Parente, principle architect at Carlo Parente Architecture Inc. is the designer of the condo renovation. The design concept was focused on creating adaptive spaces by removing partition walls, implementing milwork as spacial separators, and creating adaptive elements, such as partition walls that also act as wing doors. As an architectural assistant, I created construction drawings and renders and contributed to the design of the kitchen and selection of materials.

Community Engagement & Hobbies

Volunteer I volunteered in different organizations that allowed me to be exposed to different communities and learn about their stories and experiences.

Public Art I participated in painting the mural art project of the Roncessvalles Pedestrian Bridge art project. I also participated in workshops, collaborating with artists ,such as Shalak Attack, in creating concepts for STEPS’s Daily Migration mural art series.
