•Make sure the car is in the accessory position.

•Once you are all plugged in the Green LED on the KTX will illuminate.

• Launch the MultEQ software • The software will ask you to select the area for tuning. Double click the appropriate selection.

• Now the software will display the position the mic should be placed.

• Place the mic in the position shown on the software.

• In most positions the mic should be between shoulder and ear height pointing streight up.

• On front only configurations you will be asked to place the mic close to the front of the vehicle, this could be too close to the roof lining, reduce the mic height as if you were leaning forward following the contour of the roof.

• Once you have positioned the mic shut the door and hit the measure button. • A series of beeps n squeaks will be heard through each speaker in the system. • The first measurement will auto detect what speakers are connected, levels and also decide the optimum crossover frequency, with poor OEM speakers the MutEQ will place a filter below 50Hz to prevent the speakers from overload.

• After the first measurement the software will indicate which speakers are active.

• If there are phasing problems (indicated by a minus sign)

• If the levels are too low. • Ambient noise is to high. • The above faults are indicated on the text area of the software, Other error codes to help you identify faults can be found in the back of the manual.

• When the required measurements are carried out (min 3,max 6) you then hit the result button.

•The display will show an accurate frequency response of your system (before) and estimate the corrected response (after)

•It is also possible for more experienced engineers to detect phasing, panel resonance or crossover problems by looking at the before graph.

• After you are satisfied with the graphs you can then apply a target curve to suite the customers taste. Target curves • Reference- preferred selection for audiophile ears. • Ref/Mid comp- same as above with reduced midrange. • Linear- A sloped response, for people who like more bass.

Before MultEQ Off From the bottom up there are many problem with the sound, huge peaks at 50/60Hz cause a one note bass effect, 1k-2k has a huge peak making a harsh sound, 8k up the treble drops off as if there was no tweeters.

After MultEQ On Bass resonance has been reduced,100Hz has been lifted, the software sensibly does not try to boost inherent panel resonance problems e.g. 80Hz. The midband has been brought down and finally the treble has a steady roll off rather than a steep drop.

Other sound aspects With the MultEQ off the sound stage was very poor in both front seats of the vehicle, the mid/woofers are heard right down below at the hips of the listener, if you are in the left seat all you can hear is the left speaker and visa versa. after activating the MultEQ the staging does shift forwards making both speakers apparent to both seat positions. Conclusion The MultEQ system does make a great job at correcting the standard speaker system, most of the major flaws are eradicated or improved. After listening to the corrected sound going back to the flat setting just made you want to turn back on the MultEQ.

Before MultEQ Off From the original plots the new speakers out perform the OEM. The bass end massively improved, midband is still a little peaky but a broad peak that is easy to correct. Treble again is a huge improvement.

After MultEQ On The MultEQ again improves bass suck-outs, the midband is very smooth and the integration between mid and treble is corrected. The sound stage improvements are clearly evident when compared to the OEM units.
