Scavenger Hunt! April 22, 2017

Officers got to know one another by sending the committees out on a scavenger hunt all across downtown Indianapolis.


a- maize          -ing service ALD/PES members spent many hours between August 4th and 20th, 2017, volunteering at the Washington Township Lions Club Corn Stand at the Indiana State Fair. Former officer Veronica Bigham and her father allowed us to seize this opportunity to make some money for our organization and give back to the Indianapolis community by lending some extra hands.

Day of

Caring

IUPUI's ALD/PES Chapter participated as a group in the October Day of Service put on by the school called Day of Caring. During this day, different students and organizations from IUPUI are assigned to service sites across the Indianapolis community to perform various service-oriented tasks.

This marks the 10th year of our chapter participating at Hauntless Halloween with Indy Parks. Each year we have over 50 members volunteer!

ALDPES membrs were able to help with registration at the Indy Marathon on November 4th in Fort Benjamin Harrison.

We had 10 members attend the PES Regional conference in Green Bay. Everyone had fun and enjoyed the detour to Albanese Candy Factory.


11-14-17 Meeting At the 11-14-17 ALD/PES chapter meeting, we learned about upcoming events including the ALD National Service Project and our Holiday Project. Also, Pete Hunter gave a presentation on how to become an IUPUI Top 100 Student.


Holiday Project


For this event, ALD/PES members volunteered to go shopping and wrap presents for families that need help during the Holiday Season. This project removes the financial stress on the parents of providing gifts for their children.

Dancin' For a Cause SamStrong 2018

Pictured here is Sam Featherstone, some of his drawings made during his battle, and his parents telling their story to those in attendance. Below are all of those who attended SamStrong and contributed to the amazing cause.

IUPUI's ALD/PES Chapter has had the SamStrong dance since 2013 in memory of fellow ALD/PES member and IUPUI student, Sam Featherstone, who passed away from brain cancer in January of 2013. He received all of his treatment at St. Jude. Ever since 2013, ALD/PES has made an effort to raise money for St. Jude. This year, ALD/PES raised over $3,000 for St. Jude Children's Hospital through ticket sales, a silent auction, and sponorships. At the dance, there was a DJ, a photobooth, refreshments, a raffle drawing, and a silent auction. There was something for everyone at SamStrong!

A New Beginning Initiation 2018

Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma held their annual Induction Ceremony on the evening of April 7th in IUPUI's Campus Center. Current officers and student advisers as well as new inductees and families joined together to celebrate our new members as well as our current members. ALD/PES inducted 370 members; the room was filled to its capacity of 800 with initiates and their guests as well as many IUPUI faculty and staff members. During the ceremony, Alyssa Wickham, a student advisor for the past 2 years and a graduating nursing student, spoke as well as Dr. Jay Gladden, IUPUI Associate Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education, Dean of Universty College, and Acting Dean of the Honors College. We made Dr. Gladden an honorary ALD/PES member. Some graduating seniors of the chapter were awarded the Maria Leonard Senior Book Award and scholarships winners were announced. Officers for the 2017-2018 school year were also recognized and presented with framed certificates for their hard work this past year. After the ceremony, all those in attendance enjoyed refreshments and celebratory cake! ALD/PES also offered professional family photos and portraits in exchange for a voluntary donation to the American Red Cross.


ALD PES April Meeting April 10th, 2018 This was our first meeting with the new 2018 Initiates! We had an awesome time socializing and getting to know each other through playing games and eating ice cream!

Holliday Park Spring Cleanup ALD/PES members spent a Saturday helping Indy Parks remove invasive plants, pick up limbs, cut up overgrown yews, and general park cleanup.

Former scrapbook committee member, Veronica Bigham, became Mrs. Michael Cooper - with former fellow scrapbookers Nicki Ambrogi as maid of honor and Stephanie Fulk as a bridesmaid. Just another great example of the lifetime friendships made through ALDPES. Congratulations, Veronica and Michael!


February 22, 2018 The new 2018 ALD Flame magazine has arrived! The cover was designed by our very own ALDPES member, Conner Chamberlin! Congratulations to Conner for winning the cover design contest and the $200 prize! Doesn’t his design look great???


Member Highlights April 11, 2018 All three of our ALD Stemler Study Abroad Scholarship applicants are winners! Congratulations to Trenna Soderling (VP of Marketing), Jaci Zook (Service Chair), and Samantha Peak (Student Advisor)! And we have one more winner! Congrats to Sarah Bahr for winning an ALD graduate fellowship!
