When did you start freestyle? What motivated you to start? A. I started freestyle football in 2009 after seeing my best friend Brandon doing an Around the World. I struggled and gave up after a few weeks. Brandon said we could meet up and he would show me the right technique, after many attempts I landed the trick and I felt incredible. This was the start; from that day on I started training more and more until it became an every day routine. Q. What would you say is your biggest achievement so far? A. Qualifying to the top 8 to take part in the UK championships sponsored by Red Bull. For me this was a great achievement battling it out against the top football freestylers I had taken inspiration from the start of my freestyle career. Q:KDW¡VWKHIUHHVW\OHIRRWEDOOFRPPXQLty like in England? Do you all know each other? A. In England there is a very large freestyle football community with multiple freestyle meet ups every month. Not all freestylers go to meet ups. Some prefer to show their freestyle through YouTube, it allows them to share their latest freestyle video to the world and the community.

Q. Will there ever be a space for freestyle football in the Olympics? A. Freestyle football is a very fast growing sport that I believe will become even more popular and understood in the future. For freestyle football to be on the Olympics ZRXOG EH YHU\ XQOLNHO\ , GR KRSH WKHUH¡V more chance in the future that there will be much larger competitions than now.

Q. An average day in the life of Matthew Selby? A. Most days I train up to 2 hours a night as I have college. At the weekend I train 3 or more hours per day.

Being a full time freestyler would allow me to get jobs abroad and go to amazing counties, but that has yet to happen.
