RTITB ACCREDITED FORKLIFT OPERATOR TRAINING

Allied Training can deliver training at our custom built Forklift Training Centre or travel and provide counterbalance and reach forklift training at our customer’s premises to reduce any inconvenience to trainees. There is a legal requirement for forklift operatives to be trained. During training there must be sufficient space available to carry out basic manoeuvring skills and to set up a test course.

COURSE AIM: The aim of this course is to provide Forklift drivers with the necessary knowledge and training necessary to obtain certification as a Forklift operator.

The RTITB Commercial Vehicle Banksman course, or Reversing Assistant course, is designed to eliminate preventable crush injuries and incidents in the workplace. Suitable for operations running vans up to 3.5 tonnes & HGV C1, C & C+E; this is a five hour course designed for five delegates. VNA

COURSE AIM: The Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) lift truck operator course will give you the skills to operate the truck safely and efficiently, carry out a pre-use inspection, and recall and explain the causes of truck and load instability. There are two categories of VNA truck – man-up and man-down. The completion of the man-up operator course will equip you to operate both machine types. This course covers, but is not limited to, the following areas; • An introduction to the truck • Driving the truck (including narrow aisles under automatic guidance) • Laden and unladed manoeuvring • Operation of the hydraulics • Battery care and maintenance • Picking up and setting down • Loading with the man-up function • Handling awkward loads

STATIC GUARD

COURSE AIM

It is broken down into four units:

It is now a mandatory requirement to have a license in order to work within the Irish security industry. This license can be obtained through the Private Security Authority (PSA). In order to apply for a Static Guarding licence you must complete a static guarding training course. The basic Static Guarding course required is a level 4 minor award issued by the Further Education Training and Awards Council (FETAC). This programme is specifically designed for security officers new to the industry or for any person wishing to start work in security with the basic knowledge to help them understand what is required of them to carry out everyday security tasks.

Unit 1: Background and Theory Unit 2: Legislation and Regulation Unit 3: Retail Security Unit 4: Practical and Emergency Procedures There are two skills demonstrations that each candidate must complete. Each candidate must complete 4 specific practical skills related to workplace familiarisation. There is also a practical examination at the end of the course. The examination will be based on specific learning outcomes and will be one hour in duration. The format of the examination is 40 short answer questions using the tick or cross method. 1 mark each.

WHO SHOULD APPLY: New and existing security officers. All students attending the course must have with them: • Two recent passport size photographs (less than 1 year old and signed on the back) • PPS Number • Proof of ID & Address

DOOR SUPERVISOR

COURSE AIM:

This programme is specifically designed for people working in or seeking to work in Door Security. As a doorman or woman in a night club or pub in Ireland then you must have a Door Supervisor licence from the Private Security Authority (PSA). In order to apply for a Door Supervisor licence you must complete a Door Security Procedures (DSP) training course.

OCUPATIONAL FIRST AID

Our Occupational First Aid Course meets the requirements of the syllabus for FETAC Occupational First Aid (Level 5) as set down by the Health and Safety Authority. This programme requires a high level of trainee participation and interaction where the theory is enhanced by practical demonstration of skills and practical application by trainees.

COURSE AIM: To provide the learner with the knowledge, practical skills and understanding required to provide and co-ordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007; Part 7, Chapter 2 :First Aid.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Learners who successfully complete the course will: • Understand the responsibilities of an Occupational First Aider. • Be able to provide treatment for the purpose of preserving life or minimising the consequences of injury until discharge or the arrival of medical assistance. • Be able to provide treatment in the workplace for an injury which does not require the attention of a medical practitioner or nurse. • Be capable of co-ordinating first aid arrangements in the workplace. • Be familiar with health and safety legislation on first aid provision in the workplace.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? This is a one day QQI Occupational First Aid Refresher Course for existing QQI Approved, Occupational First Aiders, who are due for their refresher course.

BASIC FIRST AID

Practical First Aid Course is a 1 day course covering a comprehensive range of topics such as CPR and Defibrillation to prepare participants to administer emergency first aid care. Participants will learn a high level of practical skill so that they can deal competently with any situation that may arise. Upon successful completion of the course participants are presented with an Emergency First Aid Certificate which is valid for 3 years.

PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID

This one day Paediatric First Aid Course is specifically designed for parents, grandparents, babysitters and all those who require a basis for providing basic Paediatric First Aid in an emergency situation. It is designed to assist participants in the treatment of minor accident / incident injuries and life saving skills. This is not a substitution for the Occupational First Aid course. Occupational First Aid is a certified and intensive 3 day course with more in depth, practical and theoretical examination of the role / responsibilities of the First Aider.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

On completion of this Paediatric First Aid Course, the participants will have a basic knowledge of Paediatric First Aid and what to do in the event of an emergency while waiting for a qualified person (Doctor, Ambulance personnel etc) to arrive at the scene.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT

The Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.

DEFIBRILLATOR AND CPR

Our Irish Heart Foundation approved, Automated External Defibrillator Course, teaches participants the life-saving skills of how to use this device and the confidence to put their skills into action. No previous medical training is required.

CERTIFICATION:

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the Automated External Defibrillator course there will be a written examination as well as three practical assessments for each student. Successful participants will receive a Irish Heart Foundation certificate which is valid for 2 years.

Participants will be trained to a very high standard of C.P.R. and be given various scenarios involving the use of the A.E.D. with particular regard to safety.

• This training will need to be revalidated every three months. A group of 10 – 12 can be revalidated in one day.

PATIENT HANDLING

In organisations today we have a duty to look after the health, safety and wellbeing of people. Those involved in Patient Handling are a key part of that responsibility. To comply with current Health and Safety legislation, SHW at Work (General App) Regulations 2007, Part 2 Workplace and Work Equipment, Chapter 4 “Manual Handling of Loads” and Amendment Regulations 2007 we have designed this Patient Handling Training Course.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

All staff engaged in lifting and handling patients during their working day. No precourse requirements are needed in order to undertake this course.

SAFEPASS Our FAS and Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) accredited Safepass Course is for all construction site and local authority workers (including apprentices and trainees). To ensure that they have a fundamental knowledge of health and safety. Essentially any worker who alters, interferes or changes a building must in time have a Safe Pass card. This requirement applies to all workers in the construction sector from the 01/06/03. Cards must be refreshed every four years. This CSCS assessment course in Telescopic Handler Operation is for the experienced operator who has extensive practical experience but has never received any form of initial training. It enables experienced telescopic handler operators to gain recognition for their achievements by way of certification and to comply with statutory regulations.

• Have at least six months full time experience on telescopic handlers in accordance with the 4th Schedule - of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006 - S.I. The RTITB Vehicle Mounted Hydraulic Lorry Loader (often called a lorry loader, vehicle mounted hydraulic loader or by the manufacturer name “hiab”) operator course will give you the skills to operate the crane safely and efficiently. DRIVER CPC

Driver Certificates of Professional Competence (CPC) Training Courses were introduced across the EU in 2008, for professional bus drivers and 2009 for professional truck drivers. The aim was to set and maintain high standards of road safety, health and safety and driving amongst professional drivers of buses and trucks. Existing Drivers must complete one day of Driver CPC Periodic Training every year with an RSA approved Driver CPC Training Provider.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? • Professional drivers fall into two categories from a Driver CPC perspective: 1. those who were already working as professional drivers when the scheme was put in place, and 2. those who are new to the profession. • If you got your bus licence on or before the 9 September 2008, or your truck licence on or before 9 September 2009, you are automatically entitled to Driver CPC. This is called “acquired rights”. • To keep your Driver CPC, you must do 35 hours (7 hours) of periodic training over the next five years. • Training is on a one-day-per-year basis. (Compulsory)

“The Management of Food Hygiene Programme, The Essential Guide to HACCP Compliance“, has been developed by the National Hygiene Partnership. It forms an integral part of the national drive to improve food safety standards throughout the entire food industry. THE COURSE STRUCTURE: The Management of Food Hygiene Programme, The Essential Guide to HACCP Compliance is comprised of twentyone hours tuition in three modules. The programme is generally delivered over 5 days (one day per week) as follows; Day 1 – full day Day 2 – full day Day 3 – full day Day 4 – half day revision module Day 5 – 2 hour examination Examination and Certification: Upon completion of the programme, participants are required to take a written two hour examination and, depending on their results, the successful candidates will be awarded either a Pass(55% to 69%), Credit (70% to 84%) or Distinction (85% to 100%). Successful candidates will receive a certificate in The Management of Food Hygiene and their name will be entered on the National Register.

EHAI PRIMARY FOOD HYGIENE

There is a legal requirement E.C. Regulation 852/2004 that all food handlers are trained commensurate to their duties. This brand new accredited EHOA Primary Course in Food Hygiene takes into account all of the recent changes and requirements in food safety legislation and standards. The course updates all existing materials and focuses on the requirement under E.C Regulation 852/2004 (Hygiene of Foodstuffs). The Food Safety Authority and Department of Food and Children have provided assistance in the development of the course and DVD.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: In the E.C. Regulation No. 852/2004 food handlers are required to be supervised and instructed and/or trained in hygiene matters. The aim of this EHOA Primary Course in Food Hygiene is to provide staff with adequate training in the basic principles of food hygiene. This course is fully recognised by your Environmental Health Officer.

ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION: To receive certification for Basic Food Hygiene all participants must successfully complete a theory exam. This course is accredited by the EHOA and the certification is valid for 5 years from the date of training.
