ince launching three years ago, Aussie (award-winning) app Zova has become one of the most popular fitness apps in America, amassing an impressive 3 million downloads. Zova’s new “Body Burner” is structured as a weekly 30- min class created with a fitter audience in mind which is unique for a workout app. The workout is coached and programmed by expert trainer Vix Burdon who has a Bachelor in Exercise Science. Vix is one of the most in demand trainers in Sydney, both with clients and brands alike, and is known for her challenging but results driven workouts. Each week, Zova drops a new Body Burner to deliver a fast, effective workout that will have you sweating and working hard. With Vix motivating and coaching you the whole way through, there’s no time for slacking off! We had the opportunity to ask Vix about exercise, HIIT and what inspires her to keep moving!

As a qualified Exercise Physiologist, how important is it to keep our bodies moving? It’s arguably the most important aspect of maintaining your health and happiness. The body was made to move so give it what it wants! You wouldn’t buy a car to let it sit in the garage, right? Movement is not only essential for staying in shape but every part of our lives. A stagnant body is a breeding ground for tight muscles, aches & pains but by moving frequently and properly, increased circulation in the body will prevent tight muscles, poor digestion, and mental fatigue. On top of that the benefits of moving and exercising has been proven to have miraculous effects on the body and the mind. Zova classes are released every week, on a Monday to be exact, so what can we expect? It’s called the Body Burner for a reason, so definitely prepare to get a sweat on! I will be motivating you and coaching you through a 30-minute full body workout through the Zova app, where you will also have visual references for each exercise, motivating beats, and technique cues to ensure good form. Each workout is made up of various bodyweight exercises but will hit every part of the body and challenge your cardio to boot - you will definitely feel the burn every time!

aim to stay as active as you can through the day. Take the stairs, walk to the store, take breaks from your desk and refrain from sitting still for long periods of time. All these little bits of movement add up and make a difference not only for the state of your body but your mind, and therefore productivity too. As a fitness and exercise professional, it is your job to inspire and motivate your clients. How do you stay motived each day? I know how important exercise is for my body and how great I feel when I do it, so it’s not a chore for me. I truly love my job and seeing the impact exercise has on my clients, which motivates me to get more people moving and enjoying it so it becomes a daily part of their lives. That’s what exercise is for me because I know and have experienced the benefits so that gets me moving, even on the most tiresome days. Sometimes all anyone needs is a little nudge or support and that’s what I aim to give people, that extra push to get them doing what they know they need to do. What would be one quick tip you could give to busy professionals who might find it hard to dedicate some times each day to exercise?

“...by moving frequently and properly, increased circulation in the body will prevent tight muscles, poor digestion, and mental fatigue.”

The Body Burner, obviously! It’s a no brainer. Schedule it and be consistent. Scheduling in your workout and committing to it is more important than spending hours and hours exercising. Take care of yourself first of all and it will benefit everything else you do – your relationships, mental clarity and focus, as well as your confidence and happiness. Exercise will contribute to your productivity and performance at work so it’s worth making the time for.

How much time should we dedicate to exercise each day? The bare minimum is 30 minutes a day at moderate to high intensity, which is why the Body Burner is perfect for people who are in a time crunch. You don’t have to waste time traveling to do it and it incorporates a warmup into the workout. On top of organized exercise, you should
