He proposed right by our bedside at 6:15 in the morning, with me still in my pajamas.” The couple married on June 20, 2015, on Block Island. A favorite spot with familial ties—Rebecca’s family has been going to the island for 19 years and Rebecca and Andrew have been visiting together for 10—it was the perfect place for them to tie the knot. “My parents purchased a property on Dorry’s Cove two years ago and completely renovated it,” says Rebecca. “Once Andrew and I saw the home’s location, on a cliff overlooking the ocean, we knew we would get married there.” On their wedding day, the couple wanted to offer their guests some unique hors d’oeuvres, including mini portions of fish and chips in newspaper cones, a nod to Rebecca’s British heritage. For a late-night snack, and in honor of Andrew’s family’s home base in the Delaware Valley, guests were offered a choice of mini Philly cheese steaks with waffle fries or sausage and peppers. The couple’s “welcome bags” each included a bag of Utz crab chips, another Delaware/Maryland favorite, and fudge from Blocks of Fudge on Block Island.

With a navy and white color palette and nautical touches, the wedding décor embraced classic preppiness. “My favorite flower is the hydrangea,” says Rebecca, “so our outdoor ceremony took place underneath an arch made of white hydrangeas, and buckets of white hydrangeas lined the aisle.” The couple now looks forward to honeymooning in Italy in 2016.
