introduction At Beaumont, we believe that all plywood used in construction must be structural, certified and sustainable, fit for purpose and supported by a performance datasheet. In partnership with Metsä Wood, we have developed a portfolio of panel products to meet the performance criteria of your client’s specifications which includes the Metsä+ range. To keep it simple, we have put our panel range into pre-set end uses which include: • • • • • • •

Roofing and exterior applications Flooring Ceilings and interior walls Weather and mould protection Fire solutions Slip resistance Formworking.

We believe that all plywood used in construction must be:

STRUCTURAL Fully certified structural panels.

SUSTAINABLE The wood raw material for premium-quality Metsä Wood plywood is sourced from PEFC certified forests belonging to Metsä Group’s Finnish forest owner members, ensuring that the origin of the material conforms to the principles of sustainable forestry.

TESTED All Metsä Wood plywood products are CE-marked, classified as structural panels and conform to system 2+. The quality of the panels is controlled internally at Metsä Wood’s Plywood Mill and externally by VTT, which is the Notified Body for the CE-marking system. The quality of the plywood is conducted according to EN 13986 and its CE-marking rules. Our Spruce plywood meets the requirements of the plywood specification standard EN 636.

DOCUMENTED Comprehensive test data available online.

roofing & exterior applications Spruce Plywood The main functions of a roof are to provide weather resistance and prevent heat loss. They must also have wind bearing and snow loading capabilities. The roof structure is a complete system usually consisting of a structural frame, air barrier, vapour barrier, insulation, ventilation and waterproofing, where plywood plays an important part. For roofing and exterior applications we recommend: 2440 x 1220 x 18mm Metsä Spruce 2440 x 1220 x 24mm Metsä Spruce 2400 x 1200 x 18mm Metsä Spruce T&G 2LE. From the Metsä+ range we also recommend WeatherGuard. Key advantages of Metsä Wood Spruce Plywood for roofing and exterior applications: • Time saving: light-weight, tongued and grooved panels, help cover a large area fast • Material saving: fit between wood trusses minimising the waste of material when support spacing is 400, 600, 800 and 1200mm. Fewer fasteners than timber • On-site safety: provides a good working platform and improves health and safety conditions • Makes stable construction possible: can act simultaneously as a load-bearing structure and stiffening element.

flooring Spruce Plywood Metsä Wood Spruce plywood is a strong and durable flooring panel, well suited for use as an assembly substrate for different surface materials. It can be used in both new construction and renovation works. The strong and rigid spruce plywood flooring panels have a good load-bearing capacity. The smooth and uniform surface of the panels is an ideal foundation for parquet floors, carpeting and floor tiles. Spruce plywood panels can also be used on their own as ready-made floors in warehouses and other similar applications. In particular, the small deflections of the panels make the use of longer spans possible, which in turn helps save on the amount of construction material required. For flooring we recommend: 2440 x 1220 x 18mm Metsä Spruce 2410 x 610 x 18mm TG4 Metsä Spruce 2410 x 610 x 21mm TG4 Metsä Spruce. From the Metsä+ range we also recommend WeatherGuard. Key advantages of Metsä Wood Spruce Plywood for flooring applications: • Good strength-to-weight ratio • Easy handling, jointing and fastening • Dimensional stability • Half-size panel availability • Low emissions • Provides a safe working surface for building a house.

ceilings & interior walls Spruce Plywood By using spruce plywood, it is possible to create both an overhead interior surface and also part of the structural build. It is suitable for both partition walls and load bearing shear walls. When used for both internal and external panelling, the walls will have a good rigidity and can be easily insulated. For ceilings and interior wall applications we recommend: 2440 x 1220 x 9mm Metsä Spruce 2440 x 1220 x 12mm Metsä Spruce 2400 x 1220 x 18mm Metsä Spruce. From the Metsä+ range we also recommend SpruceFlex. Key advantages of Metsä Wood Spruce Plywood when used for ceilings and walls: • Aesthetics • Fire-resistance rating • Easy handling, jointing and fastening • Low formaldehyde emissions • Rigid structure (walls only) • Load bearing (walls only) • Ready finish surface (walls only).

formworking Metsä Form Metsä Form is a birch plywood panel with a smooth surface suitable for various concrete formwork applications including system shuttering. Both sides of the panel are overlaid with phenol film and the edges are sealed which gives smooth results. Applications include: • System shuttering • Girder formwork • Regeneration panels • Element industry • Concrete block industry • Transport industry (equipment containers, trailer side boards, sliding doors, vehicle and flight cases, bus floor constructions, etc). Key advantages of Metsä Form: • Smooth durable overlay • Light and dimensionally stable • Strong and rigid • Easy to clean and re-use • Can withstand impacts and other forms of bruising • Exterior glue line • Fully tested exterior glue line.

advanced panels for weather protection WeatherGuard Metsä Wood WeatherGuard is a spruce plywood panel with a hydrophobic surface. The surface rejects rainwater and therefore reduces the amount of water absorbed by the panel whilst, at the same time, allowing the panel to breathe and allowing water vapour movements to and fro. WeatherGuard is a great building material during construction but it is essential the wood is allowed to dry before the components are fitted into the final structure. Applications include: • Roof, floor and wall structures • Agricultural structures • Pedestrian bridges • Construction platforms • Repairing and renovating homes and buildings. Key advantages of WeatherGuard: • Strong hydrophobic surface protects the product against rain at the construction site, while allowing the panels to breathe • Reduced swelling: better dimensional stability results in enhanced assembly tolerances and better structural quality • The panels are kept dry: up to 60% reduction of water intake in rain and gives a shorter drying period before closing structure and allows faster building time • Lower moisture content of the wood products means lower risk of mould growth or blue stain during storage and low risk of damage caused by wet structures.

www.beaumontforest.co.uk

mould protection MouldGuard Metsä Wood Spruce MouldGuard is a surface impregnated softwood plywood panel that significantly reduces the risk of mould growth compared with unprotected softwood plywood panels. Mouldguard should be used in structures where a risk of mould growth exists. The product offers a ready to use surface in humid conditions, with a natural visual quality which can also be painted. Applications include: • Roof, floor and wall structures • Building attics and roof overhangs • Repairing and renovating homes and buildings. Key advantages of MouldGuard: • MouldGuard treatment provides 4-5 times improved resistance to mould • Will not support conditions suitable for the growth of mould, when the structure is well ventilated • Decrease visual degradation of the product • Off-cuts are classified as biofuel, meaning they are suitable for use by an energy power plant.

fire solutions FireResist Metsä Wood Spruce FireResist is an ideal fire solution. It has been tested according to EN13501-1 (2007), complieswith the highest European fire rating possible for wood panels (SBI, Single Burning Item) and is Euro Class B certified. Applications include: • Public building interiors: ceilings and walls • Technical rooms • Garages • Structures for partition walls (FireResist only). Key advantages of FireResist: • Aesthetically pleasing • Minimal environmental impact to the environment • CE marked • Quality controlled manufacturing process • Acts as a load-bearing construction for partition walls • Off-cuts are classified as a biofuel, meaning they are suitable for recycling.
