Notes On The News TWO SMYRNA RESIDENTS MAKING RUN FOR GOVERNOR By Allan Lipsett Editor/Publisher Now there are two Smyrna residents in the 2018 race for Governor. Rep. Stacey Evans threw her house in the ring in May for the Democratic nomination. “I wanted you to be the first to know, I’m running for Governor,” Rep. Evans said. “I am running not only to protect the HOPE scholarship, which was the only way I could have gone to college, but also to fight to bring hope to so many Georgians who are struggling to make ends meet.” “I’m running to bring good jobs to Georgia and help our small businesses so that every Georgia family has the opportunity to make a better life for themselves.” Evans has already earned the endorsement of former Gov. Roy Barnes. Sen. Hunter Hill announced his bid for governor on the Republican ticket in April. “Murph’s” Open At Galleria Atlanta Braves Hall of Famer Dale Murphy has opened a new bar and restaurant in the Cobb Galleria Centre. “Murph’s” is open for lunch and dinner daily and features a full bar and American fare such as wings, burgers, sandwiches and salads.
