Michael Jackson – This is it
Synergising other products, making people who have watched the film more likely to buy the album
Spine has name of digipak and vital information. All typography is in capitals but not sans, so it gives it a classic and more serious look while keeping it simple and to the point.
Plain background, all focus on the image in the centre.
Iconic pose of Michael Jackson with collaged images from concerts. Adds colour and fun without having a chaotic cover.
Another very iconic pose; anyone who looks at the image alone will automatically know that it’s Michael Jackson. His dance moves are his brand.
Layout of image and text providing them to work around each other instead of being awkwardly seperated to different parts of the cover.
Similar images and background kept as front cover, to keep within the overall colour scheme of the digipak.
Track list of all the songs
Bonus tracks and material on second CD to make the digipak something more of a collectible as it features extra things. Credits, legal stuff and websites Barcode and legal logos
Brief dedication of digipak
Lots of images on one page to show how much exclusive content there is. Keeps with the theme of the images from the front a back covers as being from concerts and rehearsals and very colourful.
Lots of pages, therefore lots of information included. People would be more likely to buy it if they are sure that they are getting the value for their money. I think it would therefore be better for us to make a 6 panel digipak rather than a 4 panel.
CD is hidden in a pocket i.e it isn’t obvious where the CD is because of the picture on the page. The image of the stage with the ‘THIS IS IT’ lights has been repeated a fair few times to link the whole digipak together.
CDs both keep in the same colour scheme, and with the theme of silhouettes shown on the covers. They also show iconic dance moves of Michael Jackson. They aren’t too colourful and chaotic which makes them seem more like a classic collector’s item.
