Dear participants, I am honored and excited to be part of the 2nd Summer Training Camp of EYP Azerbaijan. During this event we will aim to improve your skillset, create connections between participants and have fun. This event is an opportunity for us trainers to share all the skills we’ve gained over the years of being and EYPer, and for you to gain an advantage when joining future events. If you come here with an open mind eager to learn and improve, we the trainers will be there guiding you every step of the way. So get excited because this will be a golden opportunity for you to improve yourselves. This event is not just a training, it is also an event where connections will be made between future co-HO’s, co-Editors, board members etc. We will aim not only to improve your skillset but also to facilitate connections with people you can use those skills with. We will also aim to make this fun, because I am a firm believer that to learn things efficiently one must be having at least a little bit of fun. I will not promise you that this will be epic, instead I urge you to come to the event excited and eager to learn and participate in all the quality things we can offer. If you do just that, together we can make this event legendary! We are happy to welcome you at 2nd International Summer Training Camp of EYP Azerbaijan. To encourage and to be encouraged by is what we are aiming for. There is only so much you can gain from life, and we are more than inspired from what this Summer Training Camp has to offer. Every camp in the world is different. Not merely because of geography or location, but because of the traditions and people who are participating in the camp. Every camp has hidden treasures of history and traditions that give it character and identity. We believe this Summer Training Camp will have its own special place in EYP Azerbaijan, participants will have memories associated with their time at their camp — memories that stay with them for their lifetime. Most people will remember with fondness the games, trainings, cabins, camp food, camp outs, and special happenings of their time. By taking the main responsibility of this event our purpose is to make participants feel and explore themselves, grow on a personal and professional level. We want all participants not only to have a joyful time but work hard and encourage each other to step out of our comfort zones. We wish to learn more about ourselves and experience the wonderful event. Feeling highly honored to head organise 2nd Summer Training Camp of EYP Azerbaijan and work our best to make it never-to-be-forgotten.
GUBA Guba is one of the largest cities in Azerbaijan, located on picturesque hillsides 170 km (105 miles) to the north of Baku. In the mid 18th century, Quba was the capital of the Quba Khanate, but today, it is famous for its carpets, scenery, and delicious sweets. The city itself is home to a number of architectural and historic monuments, like the Juma Mosque, Gilgilchay Fortress, and a number of other mosques and mausoleums. Explore historical monuments with a visit to the local hamam, a bathhouse visited by Alexandre Dumas when he was traveling through the region, and a beautiful brick bridge, built in 1894, one of the few to survive to this day. Many people come to Guba as part of a trip to other parts around the city. Red Town is the world surviving shtetl, a settlement of Mountain Jews with their own language and culture. Guba carpets also make for an interesting trip. These carpets feature intricate designs that take inspiration from nature and geometric patterns, plus a variety of vivid colors. Each village had signature patterns, though many have been lost to time. However, more recently, carpet workshops have been opening in Guba with the aim of bringing back the art of carpet weaving and reviving the skills and knowledge needed to keep this ancient art alive.
SESSION CONCEPT 2nd Summer Training Camp is the initiative to cultivate the culture of trainings in EYP Azerbaijan. The event will bring together active alumni of EYP Azerbaijan and EYPers from all around the Europe. The main goal is to enhance skills of young EYPers connected with their participation in EYP events in 3 main directions: Chairing, Organising and Media. Also, there is another training stream for newcomers which targets to enhance awareness about European values, European Parliament and European Youth Parliament and increase the amount of EYP alumni. 2nd STC is meant to be an Alumni Development and Capacity Building event of EYP Azerbaijan. We aim at bringing up more qualified "officials" of EYP events in Azerbaijan and abroad. 2nd STC of EYP Azerbaijan is an inviting learning experience for both experienced participants and people with minor EYP experience. Dates of the camp: 15-19th August, 2018
