Title and Brief Summary – include a short rationale for each brief identifying why you chose it, what was the focus of the brief and how long you spent on it. BRIEF 1
Design a range of children’s wallpaper – 3 months Experiment with a range of image making techniques to make a range of children’s wallpaper to be sold in Habitat. Primarily this is a brief for experimenting with image, as well as the packaging and product identity of the wallpaper.
Brownies’ Centenary Celebration – 3 months Design Promotional material that allows the Brownies to unite over their international organisations to share their celebratory activities.
National Trust’s Silly Walks – 3 months Promote the National Trust’s Silly Walks through a six-week supplement in the guardian newspaper. Including freebees such as postcards and rain ponchos as further deliverables.
D&AD Illustration – One week Design a cover for ‘Little White Lies’ magazine for one of the given top five films. I designed three of the five (Super 8, The Tree of Life and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy), as the other two were already in production therefor giving no problem to solve.
Blue Rinse – 80s Patterns – five days Design a range of at least three pattern designs to be used as wallpaper in ‘Blue Rinse Vintage’. This brief was written for me in collaboration with Dutch Holland’s Blue Rinse rebranding brief.
Transport for London (TFL) – disbanded Produce a pattern design for London’s tube seat for standard and disabled seats using a given colour palette. I stopped this brief due to my insufficient skills of mocking up. I would like to revisit next term and look into using another courses help to get the mock up right.
Penguin – One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest – one week A competition brief. Design a book cover for Penguin’s One Flew Over the cuckoo’s Nest. Penguin wanted the designer to translate what the story meant to ourselves and to address a new contemporary audience. I used a tablet pattern and tablet bookmark and pritn to translate a sense of humour and madness from the story as well as forcing the book out from its competitors on the shelf.
Dickens – An Artist’s Impression – four days Set by Aaron Skipper and Ben Mckean I was asked to produce a book cover that translates my own thoughts of Dickens with my personal designing style. I kept it simple and timeless with linear illustration and repetitive portraits onto both the cover and bookmark.
BRIEF 6 – TFL Transport for London – disbanded BRIEF 1- WALLPAPER a) Wallpaper tubes are mocked up. They would be white tubes instead of covered with paper to seem white. b) There is an un numbered board named “supplementary board’ in the back of the collection of boards in the folder. BRIEF 7 – PENGUIN – There is an un numbered board named “supplementary board’ in the back of the collection of boards in the folder. *Please excuse the hyphens, seek the cd and blog for un-hyphened text.
