Design promotional material which allows the Brownies to unite over their international organisations to share their own celebratory activities.

-

(i) ‘Be my Brownie Pen Pal’. A stationary set which allows the Brownies to personally communicate to other Brownies around the world of their experience of their centenary celebratory events, as well as their experience as a member or ‘six’ in the 100th year of the Brownies.

Brownies Centenary Celebration -

(i) As the stationary set will be distributed across all Brownie denominations they will need to be compactly packaged as well as relating to the taste of a nine to eleven year old girl. I adapted a poster tube as they are cheap, accessible and compact to use for packaging. I continued the felt imagery across onto it and applied the centenary branding on to the caps. This was not a time for belly bands and foil blocking. This needed to be something that a little girl would want to take to school with them to show their friends and to store the writing stock, tape and pencils etc successfully. It was a late entry to this brief but it is completely and utterly necessary as it moves this solution from a collection of small things to a usable product.

Brownies Centenary Celebration -

- (i) The ‘Pen Pal’ set includes (clockwise), pencil/pen tops, writing paper including the phrase ‘Be my Brownie Pen Pal’ on it, a range of envelopes, stickers, tape, and their very own Brownie ‘Pen Pal Badge’ to show they have earnt a writing skill as well as existing as a Brownie in their Centenary Year. The badge might be the most significant part as it represents both earning a skill and sharing it with others, precisley what the Brownies are about.

As well as supplying the Brownies’ with equipment to unite as a whole organisation through writing letters. I proposed a web version to allow an up to date alternative of uniting the Brownies to share their 100th anniversary celebrations around the country and the world via an exclusive webpage which enables video calls.

(i) A link from their secure password protected home page which both the parent or Brownie Leader (Brown Owl) can access with ease.

(ii) Entering the site you are immediately taken to a worldwide overview of where the Brownies are based. The toadstools (as shown top right) indicate any online groups of Brownies waiting to share their celebration.

(iii) Choosing one country the site then zooms in. There is also a manual option using the zoom buttons (bottom right). The toadstools then again indicate who is only but now can be seen in more specific areas.

The same action occurs again once a county has been selected.

(v) This far in now shows that there are more than one Brownie organisation available to share in one county.

(vi) Then by clicking on the toadstool information is given of the specific group as well as the leader’s (the Brown Owl) name. This is useful to distinguish the specific group and to allow an individual to be addressed once entering in to the video call.

(vii) After using the top right icons a video call is then as simple as a normal call with the ‘call’ and ‘end call’ options.
