Living Space + Parking Structure On The Beach Academic |PennDesign | Los Angeles | Spring 2011 | Homa Farjadi Work selected for publication by instructor Homa Farjadi, “WORK 10-11” A peculiar relationship exists in Surfurbia – specifically, a juxtaposed opposition between private life and public space. The beach is the ultimate public domain, yet the living spaces on it stand in isolation, bound by solid walls, fences, and vegetation. Our proposal involves the removal of such solid boundaries, as a means to add ambiguity among what is public and what is private, what is beach, what is parking and what is living space.

This project is a new type of parking structure that is concurrently living space, beach space, etc. It is essentially an extension of the beach landscape, which is further extended to the city by the mobility of the car. The four essential activities – bathing, eating, sleeping, and viewing – form four distinct landscapes, offering instable and shifting relationships to the horizon, to incidental programs, to pedestrians, to cars, and to the water.

Xiamen Haicang Exhibition and Sales Center

Architecture & Interior Design | Professional | AECOM | Xiamen | 2012 | Clent: Xiamen Vanke | Built Xiamen Haicang Exhibition and Sales Center is a joint effort between AECOM landscape team in San Francisco which comes up with overall master plan and landscape design and architecture team in Shanghai that designs the sales center on site. The sales center strategically adopts a cylinder shape to respond the overall landscape gesture. One corner of the building mass is cut and lifted in such a way that creates a sloping circular circulation to create a more dynamic space and memorable entry experience. The project is launched in December 2011 and was built in September 2012.

INTERIOR SEQUENCE The purpose is to create a continuous path that lead the guests through the exhibition area comfortably with the designed sequence: impress - welcome - display - meet - relax

RECEPTION DESIGN One of my role in this project is to design a reception counter in the lobby. By integrating the counter and the staircase, the lobby feels more grand and with the sunlight from second floor, the overall atomsphere is more poetic.

Planning & Architecture Design | Professional | AECOM | Sanya | 2012 | Clent: ClubMed | Pending The project site is located on an island called Sanya Xidao, a popular tourist destination in Hainan. Given the challenge of the competitiveness of hotel industry in the area, the key of this project is to look for the essence of the site and make the project stand out among all other competitors. The design studies the typology and material of local houses and transforms the spatial quality and sequence into our concept of "the coral village", which reproduces the sense of scale while walking inside a local village.

Planning & Architecture Design | Professional | AECOM | Sanya | 2012 | Clent: ClubMed | Pending Being "unique" is the top requirement for the project. Five unique "highlights" are specially designed in this project. One of the highlights, the aquarium restaurant sits on the water. The restaurant space is fully integrated with aquarium and is sunken inside a big pool which gives guests a unique experience of being surrounded by fish while dining. Various sizes of private dinning rooms are hanged from the ceiling to provide ocean views and can easily be access by ladders at different levels.

Nanchang Tianxiangyuan Clubhouse Architecture Design | Professional | AECOM | Nanchang | 2012 | Clent: Nanchang Vanke | Under Construction Nanchang Tianxiangyuan Clubhouse is located in a big lakeside landscape park in Nanchang. The main function of this building is a sales center for short term but will become a community clubhouse in the long term, therefore the program is designed to reflect both demands. The project is located in a big landscape park surrounded by water. The landscape design of the park is done by AECOM landscape team so the architectural design is fully integrated with landscape. Throughout the whole design process there is close collaboration between the two teams to find the ideal balance between the architecture and the environment.

Nanchang Tianxiangyuan Club House Architecture Design | Professional | AECOM | Nanchang | 2012 | Clent: Nanchang Vanke | Under Construction The building functions as a backdrop for the adjacent landscape. It is coated with white waterproof paint. Abundant transparency is introduced all over with emphasis on the ground floor to reduce the overall architectural mass and to allow better views throughout the building.

FACADE ITERATION The facade The organic pattern on the facade makes the number of floors less indicative. Based on the privacy analysis on different levels, smaller and denser openings are needed towards the bottom of the building.

Even though people can see me standing here people won’t know what is going on in me. I prevent my residents from being seen. I am like a secreet; one must know the way in order to enjoy my insides. A VERY SKINNY BUILDING The massing strategy is to minimize the width of building footprints to best achieve the concept of “hiding”. The building is twisted 30 degree from the bottom to the top to minimize the impact of prevailing wind on the building structure.

People sometimes desire a break from exhausting city life, a shelter where they can enjoy some relaxation and forget about who they are and what they do. This project aims to provide a shelter for people to “hide”. A home that offers highest privacy while still keeping spacious layout and elegant designs.

Las Torres De Cotillas Auditorium Architecture Design | Competition | Professional | Member of Design Team in Sou Fujimoto Architects| Las Torres De Cotillas| Summer 2010 | Result: Second Place Las Torres De Cotillas Auditorium aims to create a multi-functional space that accomadates different activities at different times. The stage in the middle can be elevated or lowered based on the need. During the day, the auditorium can be a outdoor open space that been seen from any direction; during the evenings, the auditorium can become an indoor performancing space . Architecture Design | Academic | PennDesign| New York CIty | Spring 2010 | Ferda Kolatan Work selected for publication by instructor Ferda Kolatan, “Meander -- Variegating Architecture� SUPERCHARGED serves as a prototype for the approaching Zero Emission era. Part parking structure, part charging station, part office and exhibition space. This hybrid building translates the language of human face and car expression. A component is designed to function as a facial feature that has infinite expression varieties. These components become alphabets that express the language of SUPERCHARGED.

EV CHARGING INTERFACE The mechanical system in the building runs within the facade. The facade shows the expression of the building from outside and provides electricity to EV from inside.

The TEST DRIVE on the roof is for buyers to experience EV. The track has three lanes each with a specific bank angle that allows cars to run in different speed.
