My Get Away I live in a big city. Not big like New York, but not itty bitty. It’s filled with many people young to old who aren’t always cheerful, and sometimes this place can be a bit fearful. I like being around people like my friends and family that live near by, and if they ever left me no doubt, i’d cry. I like to get out and not just sit around, sometimes I even like to get out of this town. Go somewhere no one can find me, into a town with a population of about 190. Where nothings a secret, not even something small, where my best friend lives, and where I watch her play ball. There’s not much there, just a church, school, and farm. Where the view of the open road brings a good charm.
When you and I became friends.

Life on The Inside Many people know me from the outside. There are many things they don’t know about me, though. Sometimes what you see isn’t always what you get. People don’t know that sports are my life. All the long nights, all the people that become your family, and all the intense, close games. This is what makes up part of my heart. Sports are my life. Volleyball, softball, basketball... it never stops. Like a job sports are morning to night. When I am not playing, I am practicing. After a long day at school; I practice to prepare myself for games, I practice the hardest games scenarios. This way when the worst scenario happens in a game, I know what to do. I practice with my team, until we get it perfect, even if it takes all night. A scenario we practice is when there is no outs and bases loaded. We also practice if there are batters on first and third, and one out. For this drill
we look the batter on third back, throw to second, and then roll to first. This way we get a double play.
When you play sports, the people on your team aren’t just your teammates. Well they are at first, but then the bond becomes so strong it’s unbreakable. The best teams are when your teammates are your friends on and off the court or field. When your friends are your teammate you understand them, you know what they are thinking, and you don’t get frustrated with them as easy. All the chants, and cheering that get you pumped to play. All the jokes. They make you realize that without your family, your teammates the game is nothing. The best thing about sports, the best times, are the close, intense games. Everything becomes serious. Every moment counts. It’s a battle. You have to stay strong mentally, physically, and emotionally, or you will never make it. In the end the team who played best, smarter, and wanted it more,
they always win. Together your team provides support, and confidence that you can overcome the hardest games against the hardest teams. In these situation you feel you adrenaline rushing through your body, and your stomach fills with butterflies, but your mind bursts with confidence, and you can hear your mind telling you what to do, when you get the ball. Those are the best games. What lies in my heart is a secret to many, a known fact to some, and the truth for me. Sports are my life all the long nights, all the people who become your family, and all the close games. These are things and times I will never forget, even when I can’t play anymore.
