Process and applications of rotational molding What is rotational molding? The process of molding of plastics which involves molds which rotates in a circular motion on two axes is called rotational molding. It has become one of the most popular types of molding process as it requires no unnecessary pressure on the polymer. The entire process of molding that is heating of polymer, melting, molding and then even cooling down takes place in the cast aluminum or steel molds. The mold is first filled with the powdered form of polymer and then the mold is heated up at 572 degrees Fahrenheit. This way the powered polymer melts and gets evenly distributed in the mold due to the rotation, and after the mold is cooled down the product is taken out for finishing touches. What are the plastics used in rotational molding? The plastics or polymers used for the rotomolding depends on the uses and the end product. However, some of the common plastics used are:      

Polyethylene Ethylene butyl acrylate Polyvinylchloride Polyurethane Nylon Elastomers etc.
