During the recent Account Management Trip to Europe , Account Manager Raj Patel introduced Demand Initiative of FAQ ( Frequently asked Questions) to Europe Business Stakeholders . FAQ ‘s a Demand Initiative was launched with a eye on educating Business and IT users on Handling Mundane Day To Day Errors and to be used as an DO IT yourself Tool. Business has appreciated the Detailing and eye catching Pop up used to explain the resolution on the Errors encountered during their Daily tasks. According to Reliable Business source this was the Need of hour as half of their time is spent in rectifying errors which are due either lack of insight how process should work in terms of IT perspective. FAQ will help them to quickly identify the errors and fix them without the assistance of IT.

Demand team in its Quest for Continuous Improvement in collaboration with X –category Team decide to Train its members on Basic ABAP Skill. A Pilot was launched Early this year with Six people getting trained on ABAP. The skills acquired during the training were then utilized to improve the quality of Functional specs , provide first level ABAP support in terms of Debugging , Understanding the Program logic and more across Team . This resulted in faster turn around of SM , as Functional specs has all the information an ABAPer would look for , Looking at the success of the Pilot , Next Group of people are currently undergoing Training on ABAP. Demand team has expressed its sincere thanks to X-category team for all the efforts and acknowledge the fact that without active Participation of X-cat team , Multiskilling initiative would never have been a reality .

The years 2005, 2006 and 2007 saw the Demand Chain team grow from strength to strength. It started with 227 happening in all the 3 SSOs, and we steadily took over the support of demand chain application covering the the Order to Billing cycle, which included Pricing, Rebates and other applications like Warehouse Management. The team also worked actively with GD in ITT development and rollouts. We had stalwarts like Omkar, Shakti, Hemant, Sudhakar and Nilesh who were pillars in the growth process. They were role models for the rest of the team, based on their technical expertise and their deep understanding of the Order to Billing cycle. During this time, we successfully participated in projects like Europe Optima, Golden Eye, R/3 implementations (Saphari, Kazakhstan, Turkey & New Geographies). This was a period when we were able to evolve a team to work in CRM and CBP application support, which later on became a separate entity to give better service to the customers.

The GSSO Demand team is a critical team which ensures that the Colgate's business operations of shipping to our customer and getting our revenues from our customer works flawlessly globally. My experiences and memories of working with this dynamic team has been very warm , welcoming and a satisfying . There was an element of being 'on alert' or 'on guard' which I have thrived on and also a feeling of great responsibility that our actions can have an impact on Colgate's revenues. Overall , an extremely rich experience in my career..

My association with Demand Chain has been from Jan 2009 to July 2010. In the last 18 months, I experienced a team which was extremely committed, passionate and always took pride in representing the category. Each person in the team was committed to the goals and was equally committed to the key initiatives – LDI, standardization etc. I always found the team members very sincere and ever willing to improve themselves. The team came out with some amazing achievements during the last 18 months in projects, support and other initiatives (e.gs are given below) Projects, Support 1) Russia Rebate project 2) ITT 3) Hills France 4) R/3 Upgrade 5) Gaba France 2) Support : a. ND initiatives like German Simpler Terms, Euro Logisitics , Mexico Rebates, Nota Fiscal etc. b. Reducing open tickets in A&B last year. Category Initiatives 1) PPG Automation 2) EDIPAR & Rebate Uploads 3) BPex initiative (Understanding different process across systems and moving towards one team) 4) FAQs (Training & Emergency) Team Events a. Just Chill b. Make over of the Category Leader I wish the team all the best in their future endeavors.

DEMAND moves with the world ….. The period from 2005 to 2010 has been an eventful one for the world and particularly for India. In many respects, this has been a period of significant changes & evolutions. We have juxtaposed a few important events that shaped the country in the last five years with some major achievements of the DEMAND team. Read on….. Pranab Roy

2005 Bringing Information to the Citizens The Right To information Act came to force in India on 12th October 2005. The RTI Act 2005 mandates timely response to citizen requests for government information. RTI Portal Gateway was provided to the citizens for quick search of information on the details of first Appellate Authorities, PIOs etc.

2005 at DEMAND GSSO Launched with a view to provide Colgate with significant competitive advantage through Innovative IT Solutions. An organization which Strived for Quality, Timely and cost-effective solutions, consistent service levels Responsive and adaptive to the changing business needs.

2006 The 1-2-3 Agreement US and India sign a nuclear agreement during a visit by US President George W Bush. The US gives India access to civilian nuclear technology while India agrees to greater scrutiny for its nuclear programme.

2006 Formalization of Processes Process for transfer of business process knowledge was adopted. 227 process for Business process documentation was started and Resulted in GSSO taking over Support and Putting it on Colgate World Map

2007 Women Power : Pratibha Patil was elected as a first woman president of India. India won the first Twenty-20 world tournament. For a nation starved of sporting glory, a young generation of firebrand cricketers give a cup of joy to remember. Six sixes in six balls by Yuvraj Singh & a nail biting win in the final against arch rivals Pakistan showed the world that the Gen Next of Indian cricket had arrived !

2007 Project Goliath started The gigantic task of upgrading SAP 4.6 to ECC 6.0 began in 2007.This upgraded version gave business users many new functionalities which greatly helped in smooth functioning of business activities. Thus GSSO Celebrated its First Big Victory and announced to world it can take any Task and delver to Perfection . Gen Next of GIT arrived with Bang ! !

2008 Abhinav Bindra: The name itself became the headline when this young bespectacled champion gave India arguably its greatest moment in sporting history. His Gold medal was much more than that for a country of a billion people. It was a statement that said “India has arrived”

2008 Auto-val Demand took over Support of A single point solution that completes the full cycle of Rebate Agreement settlement process was provided to US & Canadian business besides simplifying the process, it provided a clean Audit trail for the business.

2009 NANO Launched.. The Nano takes the world by storm with its simplicity, tactful engineering and the mere fact that such an audacious project could be done in a developing economy.

2009 at DEMAND Project - Euro Logistics Terms & Conditions “Value ” based logistical discounts instead of "percentage" discount to customers became possible at Colgate. Business got an option of providing discount on “Invoice”, and/or on “Rebate” and/or “in Combination” of both, with much more accuracy and transparency. An Tool to be roll out across Europe from India ! !
