EDITOR’S FOREWORD e’ve headed to the South West this August issue of Cotswold Style to our favourite holiday destination on the English coast. Salcombe in Devon could easily be regarded as Cotswolds-on-Sea at this time of year (see The Cotswold Gent), so Fashion Editor, Yvette Brentnall took her creative team to the beautiful seaside town to shoot holiday scenes depicting the glamorous location and what it has to offer for the family holiday. Claire in the County heads further south to the idyllic St. Mawes in Cornwall and Ed Durley, tests drive a vehicle to get you and your brood all packed up for the journey down the M5, while Interiors Editor, Emeline Watchorn has created some inspirational looks from the coast and Shelle Duffin cooks up a beach BBQ. Locally there is plenty happening outdoors, with a cultural ramble around our local countryside, clay pigeon shooting in Andoversford and Camilla Bassett-Smith met with Jekka McVicar whose herb farm in Alveston introduces us to a whole new ‘herbilicious’ experience. Whilst on the subject of gardening, our Real Life feature this month, is the inspirational John Sutherland, who has been the allotment maestro of Cheltenham for over 50 years! The quality of our children’s education is an never-ending thought process and our MPs have been campaigning in Parliament for extra funding for their constituencies, as Gloucestershire is still one of the lowest funded education authorities in the country. We have profiled some of the county’s leading independent schools for parents who may be making a choice to educate their children privately and Kate Justice talks us through the process of choosing her son’s secondary education. Finally we have some great competitions for you to enter; a month’s worth of Personal Training from Cotswold Style’s fitness expert, Luciano Kydd and a VIP day at the Gatcombe International Horse Trials with a Spa Day at the illustrious Whatley Manor Hotel.
