Cattedrale Di Monreale:It is one of the loveliest cathedrals in Italy. Built in the 12th century, just outside Palermo, it is not to be missed because of its stunning golden mosaics. The colorful, breathtaking mosaics cover nearly 70,00 square feet of wall inside this incredible cathedral, and are second only in size to Turkey's Hagia Sofia (although these mosaics are more beautifully preserved) .

Who’s made a difference in your life?

People come and go through out a life time, they get scared and run, they talk about their braveness, but when it comes time to show it they can’t. Everyone has done this once in their lives. We’ve all ran from something, and when we run away we’re forgotten. It’s the ones that have courage and braveness, the ones stand up for what they believe in and never run away that are remembered, they are the ones that will never be forgotten, because they made a difference and they influenced something important in at least one persons life. I’m thankful that one man came into my life and didn’t run away, he showed courage that so many other people didn’t. A man I hadn’t ever met set on a journey with a goal set in his head, to help me and my family out of a bad situation. He did something no one had ever dared to do in the 7 years I had been a live. If weren't for him I don’t know where I would be right now, what I would be doing , or what I would be like. He changed my life for the better, and showed me what it takes to make a difference. All that is, is a little courage, braveness, and perseverance. I remember it like it was yesterday, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget. Like I said you’ll remember the ones that don’t leave, but that doesn’t mean that it’s always good to remember everyone that stays, because sometimes you wish those people would have just left. But they don’t, not on there own anyways., they need someone to help them leave, someone who is courageous and brave, someone like my step-father, Curtis Fairchild.. At only 19 years old he had heard the stories that had been told, by the people that left, the people that I have forgiven, but somewhere in me, will never trust, and set out on a mission to stop it. He did something that grown men wouldn’t do, I find that amazing and disgusting all at the same time. What Curtis did saved 2 young children and their mother from an unpredictable fate. I was six years old, turning 7 in around a month. My fathers 19 year old cousin came from Missouri to visit us in Florida. He said he was coming to visit, but he had a hidden agenda. As weeks went on he and my mother started to fall for each other, (my mother and father were not married, because he refused to marry her). My father was an abusive man, he beat my mother and brother, and because of his drug issues caused my mother to be shot in the back., he would leave for weeks at a time to cheat on her and then come back with gifts for us, to show his “love”. He was a horrible man who my mother was afraid for her life and her kids to leave. My uncle Shaun had come to visit from time to time, but had always left without standing up. He was a grown man who couldn’t stand up to his own brother, but Curtis his cousin did..

instead of confronting them about what he thought was happening and just asking, or leaving my mother he threatened to kill. While Curtis and my BROTHER, were in the living room sitting on the couch side by side, my father was outside of the house with my mother holding a gun to the wall threatening her. He was ready to kill, because he was so angry, and what she did was wrong, but it was ok for him to do it, and he didn’t care who he shot. Neither of them meant anything to him, only the females of the house did, and that’s one of the things that scares me most. I have no doubt that he had disgusting fantasies, but thankfully because of Curtis were not achieved.. I don’t know how my mother calmed him down, but she did. That day was the last time I ever saw him face to face, because that day we picked up everything we had and left, and the funny thing is I don’t remember it. I believe I blocked him out, because he was nothing to me, even though I was a confused little girl, I was a nosey one and knew of a lot of his wrong doings. It took a long time for me to really understand that I was never going to see him again, and a lot of time to understand what Curtis really went to Florida for and what he went through to save us. At first I was not happy and told my mother she wasn’t aloud to have babies with Curtis, but after a while I realized I loved him. He and my mother go married in 2006 and he has been my father for over half of my life. He did what he set his mind to and once he achieved it he never left. He’s inspired me in so many ways. I’m so much like him already, it’s like god knew he was supposed to be my father. Throughout my time with Curtis, even though I never noticed as it was happening, I tried to be like him. I wanted to be able to have attitude, but have respect, and although I’m not the bravest thing out there I know what I want and I always go for it, It’s because of Curtis that I am the person I am today, that my brother and mother and Raymond are all the people we are today.
