News Release FOR FIMMIEDIATE RELEASE February 11, 2012 Contact: Phillip Billow 513-379-7247 Billow.75@osu.edu Come and play with penguins Feb. 12. The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity brings penguins to their house for philanthropy COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity will be hosting a philanthropy event at their house allowing participants to play with baby penguins. The men of Pi Kappa Alpha will be holding their event, “Pikes with Penguins,” this Sunday from 2- 5p.m. at their chapter house on campus. The event offers participants the chance to interact with penguins brought from the Columbus Zoo. There will also be hot chocolate, snacks, movies playing as people wait, and other mystery animals to be displayed. “This event has been in the works for a while now and I’m just happy it’s finally here. We’re anticipating a huge crowd and hope to raise a lot of money,” said Brenden Kelly, the event coordinator. The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity has made a Facebook event page to help advertise this event and have around 500 people confirmed as attending. With this many confirmed guests, the fraternity hopes to raise a good amount of money. All the money raised at this event will be benefiting the National Wildlife Federation that helps save and protect endangered species. The penguins being brought for the event are South Pole penguins and have just been put on the endangered species list. People who attend this event will be allowed to interact with the penguins on a one on one basis. Under care of a zookeeper, each person

will be allowed to touch and hold a penguin for a short period of time. There will also be other mystery zoo animals brought to the house for people to enjoy. This is so people will not get frustrated waiting for penguins and will have other animals to play with while they wait. “The zoo keepers we have been talking with really think it’s a good idea to bring these endangered animals for people to see because they think it will help raise more awareness. We’re not charging people to interact with the animals, but rather simply asking for small donations to help out the zoo,” chapter president Phil Billow said. ### About Pi Kappa Alpha Pi Kappa Alpha is a secret, social fraternity, with their Alpha Rho chapter located here at Ohio State.
