To achieve a pass grade the evidence must show that the learner is able to: P1: RESEARCH and RECORD visual and other information from primary and secondary sources in response to the brief P2: DEVELOP ideas that meet the requirements of the brief, through the use of materials, techniques and processes P3: PRESENT and COMMUNICATE developmental work and final outcomes to meet the brief P4: IDENTIFY the strengths and weaknesses of the work in terms of meeting the requirements of the brief using appropriate technical terms.

To achieve a merit grade the evidence must show that, in addition to the pass criteria the learner is able to: M1: RESEARCH and RECORD a variety of visual and other information from primary and secondary sources in response to the brief M2: DEVELOP alternative ideas that meet the requirements of the brief, using a range of materials, techniques and processes M3: PRESENT and COMMUNICATE coherent developmental work and final outcomes effectively M4: EXPLAIN the strengths and weaknesses of the work in terms of meeting the brief requirements, using technical terms consistently and accurately.

To achieve a distinction grade the evidence must show that, in addition to the pass and merit criteria, the learner is able to: D1: RESEARCH and RECORD diverse visual and other information from primary and secondary sources in response to the brief D2: DEVELOP selected alternative ideas, imaginatively meeting the requirements of the brief with the use of specialist materials, techniques and processes D3: PRESENT and COMMUNICATE diverse developmental work and final outcomes imaginatively D4: ANALYSE the strengths and weaknesses of the work in terms of meeting the requirements of the brief, using technical terms consistently and accurately.
