Ingenium 1st edition Ian.17
This month featuring artist John Bramblit
Welcome to Ingenium ! A place where all amazing and mind-blowing ideas are born! A place where, not only make your creation come true, but you’re also putting yourself out there so everyone acknowledge both you as a creator and you piece as art work ( or many more). The reason this magazine was born, is that so many artists, regarding their type of craft, can come forward and showcase their work and talent at the same time. This way, you can prove yourself and be a part of the community. Among amazing stories of some artist’s life and journey, you as a reader can have fun with all sorts of surprises that lurk through these pages before you. Each new edition will provide a surprise story from either a well known artist, or an underground one. So here’s my question. Are you ready for a new adventure along side Ingenium ?! Credits : All the work before you was produced, written, designed by yours truly Alexandra-Bianca
Magical drink - Butterbeer Ingredients : 1 quart butter brickle or vanilla ice cream 1/4 cup butterscotch syrup 32 oz of your favorite cream soda
Instructions: 1.Place 4 (16-ounce) glasses in freezer and chill for at least 20 minutes 2.Mix ice cream and cream soda in a blender until combined 3.Divide between the frosted glasses 4.Top each glass with whipped cream, if desired 5.Serve with spoons and straws
Magical drink : Gillywater Ingredients : A mild juice of your choice A cucumber, skin removed Vodka Directions: 1.After peeling your cucumber, use a lemon zester (the kind with the tool to make rind twists for drinks) to create strips of cucumber. One of these strips will need to be as long as the entire cucumber itself. 2. Make a little pile/ball of the cucumber strips, and use the longest strip as a string to tie everything up into a little gillyweed ball. Be gentle, or the strip will break! 3. If you’re going with the alcoholic version, add a shot of vodka to the glass of your choice. 4. Pour some juice into the glass and plop in the “gillyweed.” 5. Add a few ice cubes and enjoy!
Art in the Dark
John Bramblit was born in 1971, in Texas – USA. Ever since he was a young child he had a weak condition. Having seizures at random times. But due to epilepsy and Lyme disease in 2001, he lost his eyesight. And a year later, when everything seemed lost to him and his family, John found a way to lift himself up from that dark abyss, through painting. Thanks to his disability, John has developed a brand new way of painting. By using textured paint to feel his way on the canvas, the same way he feels the pavement on the street with his cane, or along side his ever vigilant eye-dog named Echo. It is also known as haptic visualization. Using the ability of touch in order to “see” his subjects before he paints them.
“ Basically, what I do is replace everything that the eyes would do for a sighted artist with the sense of touch.” “ The raised lines take care of finding your placement on the canvas” – he writes on his blog. And like anyone of us, there is still one detail that doesn’t fit this whole pattern. How is he able to distinguish the colors, since he is not able to see them? The answer : “All of the bottles and paint tubes in my studio are Brailled, and when mixing colors I use recipes. In other words I will measure out different portions of each color that I need to produce the right hue. This is no different than using a recipe to bake a cake.“ His pieces are so vibrant and vivid, that it’s almost impossible to believe that a blind man was able to create them. Most of the time, he does not reveal his disability to the people who are viewing his art work. “I didn’t tell people that I was blind not because I was ashamed, but because I didn’t want it to affect the way they perceived the art”
Currently he had participated in many TV shows, he wrote his award winning book “ Shouting in the dark”. At the moment his paintings are being sold world-wide. And he is the current selectee for the Texas Governor’s Disability Employment Awareness poster. Besides working in the museum as a consultant and providing workshops for all kinds of people, of all ages, with or without disabilities. John was also a guest at many talk-shows where he offered advices and motivational speeches to all kinds of people. Telling them that, no matter what happens they should never stop doing something they love, regardless of the given situation. His passion for art is so addicting, that after viewing some of his pieces, it inspires you as well to put yourself out there and try your very best, no matter what. Just as John says “ There is an artist in everyone that wishes to come out”.
