(Violoncello and Piano) (2008)

For Eric and Sue Ellen Performance Note For Eric and Sue Ellen for ‘cello and piano was written in South Haven, Michigan in June of 2008 for the wedding of Eric Miller and Sue Ellen Dubbert. The score is in moment form, and the parts may be performed either co-‐ ordinated or un-‐coordinated (simultaneous start, but progression at individual paces). Notated durations are relative, and need not be uniform throughout. Thus the length of each moment may vary. The space between moments should be one or two breaths in length, and also need not be uniform. A performance may last approximately seven minutes. A very quiet dynamic should be maintained throughout. The piano should have the keys of the lowest three octaves silently depressed throughout. This can be accomplished using bricks or books wrapped in a towel. The ‘cellist should refrain from all vibrato. Bow position and pressure may be varied greatly – the piece should be an exploration of subtleties. A T Hunter South Haven, MI 06/08
