Das Luftschlosss for voice, grand piano, and two amplified tubes Das Luftschloss is a collaboration piece that we formed together with the composer and pianist Emre Sihan Kaleli through a series of sessions. It has therefore a significant experimental and improvisatory character. In order to keep these qualities of the piece, capturing it with a strict written score has not been wished by us. Almost all elements that we use in the piece are fixed, but their timing and the durations of the sections of the form are not so strict. While performing the piece, I lay under the piano and the sounds that I produce through sliding a super–ball on the surface of the resonance box of the piano play a major role in the piece. Furthermore, I sing into an amplified tube that is also connected to the resonance box of the instrument that also creates a constant resonance and a special timbre. Fact that I remain under the piano throughout the piece, along with the visible tubes, spotlights on and under the piano, and the overall attitude we keep while performing surely creates also an evident visual aspect. This brings the work to the border of the performance art. If the piece would be selected, we would love to perform it ourselves. Aleksandra Bajde
