“Architecture is a science arising out of many other sciences, and adorned with much and varied learning; by the help of which a judgment is formed of those works which are the result of other arts. Practice and theory are its parents.” Vitruvius, De Architectura

I believe the basis of all architectural projects revolve around three essential concepts: analysis, ‘less is more’ and attention to detail. One of the traits that characterises me is trying to improve daily and I believe one of the best sources of knowledge is travel and making contact with new cultures.

01 SALINE JONICHE WATERFRONT 2012 | Saline Joniche, RC The International Ideas Competition includes the redevelopment of the waterfront and creation of a natural and anthropic park. Saline Joniche is a rich landscape, but has suffered continuous degradation as a result of industrial activities. The goal of this project was to transform Saline Joniche into a global model of ecological sustainability. The strategy was to create a network of small interventions (restoration, small buildings, paths...) through a light and capillary project in whict past and present are closely linked.

02 AN ART PAVILION IN AOSTA 2012 | Aosta, AO The urban gardens of Tourneuve become the heart of the city, within which an exibitionary space is created. One of the most important points of the project is the building’s capacity to adapt to the peculiarities of the site, taking into account the availability of local building materials, the climate of the place and the need to optimize energy consumption. Of particular relevance is the study of natural light based on the orientation of the building and the use of brise-soleil.

CRITICALITY

The Visconti Palace is an historical building located in the centre of Saronno. The building of 15th century origin has been subjected to several ownerships and changes of use in the course of the centuries until the gradual abandonment. It represents an important resource for the town and hence why it has become the object of attention for restoration and reuse. The project includes the creation of a plastic arts centre and the construction of a new vertical connection element to link the different levels of the building and from which you can enjoy a wonderful view.

04 THE THEATRE OF SHADOWS 2015 | Piacenza, PC The thematic of the project consists in designing a theatre for the Gioco Vita Troupe wich specialises in shadow performances. The site chosen, the ex Carmine Complex with the church and the cloisters, contain an indoor theatre, an open-air theatre, laboratories, offices and the production area. The entrance is introduced via the construction of a new building attached to the side of the complex. This volume represents the foyer of the theatre and permits access to the side chapels where the audience can be seated to see the performance.

05 THE CITY OF THE “FORGOTTEN 2016 | Milan, MI My thesis analyses the disused area of warehouses placed under the rail level of Milan Central Station. Specific attention is paid to the valorization of the historical building preserving its original features. The purpose of the project is to renew an architectural resource that today has become a space used by the homeless. The central idea is the insertion onto the existing structure of independent volumes born out of the construction and capable of fulfilling different functions. Archiving, receiving and hosting are the themes that come into play.

06 ANTIQUITIES AND PROJECT 2015 - 2016 | Rome, Valencia, Selinunte, Tivoli, Naples, New York, Athens The Itinerant Master’s Degree Program in Architecture, Archeology and Museum Design - Innovative Design and Management of Archaelogical Heritage is organized around a unique educational approach that includes multiple sites in different locations where individual design workshops are held. Each workshop is methodologically autonomous, relating to the difference in approach in establishing a site-specific relationship between museum design, architecture and archaeology.

07 ATMOSPHERES 2014 | Milan, MI | Venice, VE The name of the installation is INDOOR OUTDOOR | OUTDOOR INDOOR and is the result of a reflection about the perception of outer and inner space and what people make of it. There is an overturning of planes whereby what is usually perceived as outer space is revealed to be an indoor one and viceversa. What increases the sense of confusion is the reflecting surfaces that cover the base of the cube on which an urban and a domestic scenography are mirrored.
